I had this, pulled the RAM get a white pencil rubber and rub along the contacts voila! not a bluey in sight for 2 months since, you get black deposits on the contacts which are a PITA

thanks for the replies guys, i see where your both coming from, but my mom buys a pc about every 6 or 7 years and would rather spend the little extra now so it will last as long as poss. ive got no problem at all with amd ( got 1090 myself) but i5 seems a lot more for not much more dosh...

im looking around for a desktop for the parents ( no overclocking ) and was looking at the i5 2400, cpu mainly used for web browsing watching videos. her old desktop which is one of purple **** brigade specials with a pentium p4 in it, she is running a 26" screen and i think this is what her old...

use the core temp widget an check the allways on top box (bear in mind the temps are about 10'C out on phenoms which you can offset in coretemp)
