One of the lines is a dynamic IP address. I suppose I could see if they could get a static one.

I've never really been into server hardware etc but a client has asked me to spec a server for his company.

You havent put down the make and model of your car but it sounds like it might be your secondary air pump. Have a google for your car make and model with the words secondary air pump too.
It's all down to emissions when the engine is cold.

You should be able to if i've understood your post correctly.
Basically, you will have your printer connected to a jet driect box which in turn is connected to a hub or router. By connecting it to a hub or router it should have its own IP address.
There is normally a test button on the jet...
