I suspect if we did see consumer Volta it wouldn't have the the compute/tensor flow capability. That would be given over to single precision FP performance. IF we see it :)
With Titan V already out Nvidia could well drop Volta xx80 consumer mid range very soon. It's a bad time now to buy a 1080ti. Agree with others, if you must go 1060

Performance and oc potential yes, noise no
FE edition and some of the cheaper aftermarket coolers throttle and/or are too loud. Check the reviews and make sure you get a 1080ti with a decent aftermarket cooler that doesn't throttle and doesn't sound like a jet engine at take off when you launch...
Same here, still running a 3930k at 4.4ghz, 1080ti at 4k no problem. When Intel or AMD actually release a gaming CPU worth upgrading to I'll be straight there.
These are very dire times for graphics card consumers. Nvidia launch 1080 end of May 2016, the only competition finally launch something ~equal in August 2017 :(
