*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

That was me who posted in the review section, good to get further confirmation from people that those Teamgroup RAM kits have Samsung B-die. I gambled after finding reviews for 3000 and 3400 mhz kits of the same type which said they were Samsung.

RYZEN DDR4 MEMORY, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Just as an FYI, if you download Thaiphoon Burner it gives much more information about the memory, AIDA only told me that I had Samsung RAM, Thaiphoon Burner said it was B die. If anyone is interested it is this stuff...

Thanks! AIDA 64 says they are Samsung :D. Although reading around someone said that the Teamgroup RAM at this speed isn't necessarily the top bin but I'll still take it!

Got my stuff today and got everything set up, seems to work fine with my existing Windows 8.1 install. Played two hours of battlefield 1. Went with a 1700 and a Gigabyte AB350 Gaming. I also bought this RAM to use...

I'd like to see some motherboard reviews. One nice thing about the Tomahawk is the neutral colour and RGB LEDs. My case has blue LEDs in the trim, so I can make everything match :D.

I'm eyeing the AB350 Pro4, has a 6+3 phase with VRM heatsinks, hopefully I'll get to see some testing when they're available.

I noticed in some benchmarks that people were getting around a 10% fps improvement by setting high performance mode in windows, amateur reviewers may have enabled this (I always have done on every machine I've ever built). Also the reviewers may have done their reviews last week or so. We...

    ****Blender Ryzen render battle benchmark****

Hey guys, if you recall that we had some suspicions about the Blender performance of Piledriver not being in line with other benchmarks, the Stilt recompiled it with SSE switches on and got significantly better performance (literally halves the render times) whilst Intel chips do not see such a...

How do you choose between AMD And Nvidia Cards

Price/performance/power/size I had been using AMD cards since my 7900gs broke, but when presented with buying a 290 or 970 for ever so slightly more I went with the 970 since it was much smaller and used much less power for similar performance.

I would wager that he's using Windows, Blender is much faster in Linux.

Comparing Zen to an FX-8350 is perfectly valid, because a lot of people have them and it is the previous version of AMDs architecture. Unfortunately it seems like there are some issues with the newer version of Blender and FX processors so whilst we'd like to do a proper comparison, it seems...

*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

It's for comparative purposes, for example if the 4770k is 25% faster than the 8350 in Tom's render I'd expect the same thing for the AMD render. It wasn't, so I got suspicious and downloaded an older version of Blender (2.71) and lo and behold I got a render time of 1:58 vs 2:34 on AMDs...

I just ran the same benchmark in blender 2.71 and got 1 minute 58. Clearly there are some performance regressions with the newer version of Blender on AMD FX processors.

*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

I think that Zen must just be that much faster (assuming there isn't something different with their benchmark config). If you observe this benchmark: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/core-i7-4770k-haswell-review,review-32699-14.html Then a stock 8350 is about 25% slower than a 4770k...

I think it's valid, I get 718 in Cinebench 15 with the same settings (ethernet off, above normal). So yeah, pretty terrible! Or something's off with their benchmark.

I get 2 minutes 34 seconds with an FX-8320 @ 4.5 GHz. I set the priority to above normal and turned ethernet off. Running windows 8.1.

Free i5-2500 to i7-2600 upgrade worth the effort?

Yes, hyperthreading + 100Mhz higher clocks. Also, if you have a Z77/P67/Z68 board you should be able to increase the turbo clock 4 bins over the base turbo, so you go from 3.4/3.8 to 3.8/4.2. This applies even with a locked processor, I have done it successfully on an ASUS board with an...

Really need help, screw stuck in monoblock mount!

The thread in the block looks OK from the picture. Try unscrewing (carefully!) one of the other stand-offs and see if it will fit, then you can be sure whether the thread is stripped on the stand-off or the block.
