****The Official 5G Home Broadband Thread**** (Three/EE/Vodafone/etc)

Three £5 business sim (thanks for the heads up btw folks :)) new modem in a m2 to eth case. I'm just about connected to all the available bands in my area - depending on the time of day I see north of 200 on the download but the upload is generally quite poor <20. Until three upgrade to 5GSA...

    A future proof CPU

Have been weighing up the options, my old man needs a new workstation for after effects. Seems the Alder Lake chips are great for gaming but sustained rendering not so much 90c+. Can only imagine what it’d be like sitting in the same room as that during the summer months.

    A future proof CPU

Something around Intel’s Alder Lake absolutely stinks. It pulls a crap ton of power, runs stupidly hot, but don’t worry these things aren’t a concern - just buy one because it’s faster in some applications vs Ryzen. Aye right then..

    Well done to Nvidia marketing

Forgetting about RTX for a moment, GSync and DLSS both carry a premium and folks will pay it. Dare I say it.. :D the AMD equivalents aren’t as good..

When the Gpu's prices will go down ?

The inflated retail pricing makes little sense when the likelihood of some AIB cards being in stock is as likely as Nvidia dropping the founders editions via their UK competitor.

Don’t know if it’s possible to manually update an older bios for a PCIe 4.0 GPU? Maybe worth a search. https://www.win-raid.com/t154f16-Tool-Guide-News-quot-UEFI-BIOS-Updater-quot-UBU.html Have been playing with my Palit card this afternoon. Overclocks quite nicely. +1650 to mem +150 to...

Does anyone know if PCIe 4.0 x8 is compatible with a PCIe 3.0 x16 riser cable? Will a GEN3 riser run in GEN4 x8 without errors?

It’s depressing when you look at the Nvidia site and see the £369 next to the 3060ti :(

    Should I buy a £3000 GPU or ...

Hear hear. If you could replace teraflops with a basic understanding of consumer psychology and remove the cancer that is youtube influencers then the PC gaming sector wouldn’t look so bleak.
