    DELETED_250196

I kinda disagree with a few in this thread, as we should encourage tinkering and customising. Although, that being said, op, I think you need to be willing to go back to a standard install of Windows for troubleshooting reasons. Then apply one thing at a time, go through logical and find the...

What tools do I need to build a PC?

I would say get something like a multi socket screwdriver for about £5 and then you should be set by using the Phillips head and maybe, maybe a couple of torx heads. Other than that, there are things like thermal paste if you count that in tools. Some CPU coolers will need specific screwdrivers...

    Vertical GPU Help

Sorry if this comes across dismissive, but what's trying to be achieved by mounting this vertically? If it's just for aesthetics, is there a certain orientation you'd like this to be in (a crude paint diagram would be more than sufficient)?

Post a pic of your desk if your tower is on the left of your desk.

Depending on your desk, I always feel like there's not enough depth to have a pc behind a monitor for ergonomics. I know that this is supposed to be a cardinal sin, but maybe underneath the desk on a shelf at the back would work best? Don't shoot me, just an idea!

Need help finding a new office chair

I think IKEA is right on the money with this one. I have the IKEA Markus chair which has a mesh back and that's held up for 4+ years so far and at £175 you can't complain about that. I'm 6'2" and have wide shoulders also, so I understand completely with finding the right fit. Is there any...

Need a new chair, budget £400..

I know this sounds crazy but best bang for buck in chairs imo is an IKEA Markus chair. They're obviously no Herman Miller, but for £175 you can't go wrong. I've had mine for ages and looks as good as new still. I'm around the same height and weight, so it's probably the best comparison you're...

Sorry guys not good news Chip prices rising by a further 10 - 20% according to Wall Street Journal

Brilliant, just as the GPU prices are starting to come down a little... There's always something that's causing prices to spike. If it weren't so well documented, I'd be calling a conspiracy.

    Hardware issue?

I agree that a memtest and checking the event log in windows might not be a bad idea. Also, has anything changed, such as new drivers, not just for the main stuff but four sound, printers etc.? Check windows update to see if anything has been installed before it started getting these freezes...

Best/safest way to transport computer in car?

Ideally it would be under a cargo net with the mobo horizontal and in a box with the gpu packed in there with material like the big box stores use for this, or removed and in its own box. I honestly think you'll be fine either way, as it's unlikely to break, in all honesty. I transported mine...

Do you run Windows 10 on a seperate SSD?

Nope, RAID 0 SSDs running Windows, apps, and games. I like to live dangerously xD In all seriousness, I'm not too bothered, as I only have a few apps and games that I play and most stuff like documents and saves live up in the cloud

new to all this so need help to know is this 2nd hand pc is worth what the seller is asking?!

I'd definitely try to connect it internally if you're able to. If you're just wanting the SSD to run windows, you might be better off getting something smaller like 240GB as they hover around £30-40 now. You should be able to add it in with your other HDD alongside it, you'll just need to make...

I just spent over £300 on RAM

Ouch, reminds me of a few years ago when RAM was £100 for 16gb of slow stuff on auction sites :/

    Teams camera etc

Not sure if they're still this price due to insane pricing on webcams, but the Logitech c920 is a great webcam and certainly more than you need for teams. Even a c270 is overkill in most scenarios.

Home Laser Printer, any advise please?

Anything HP tend to be the best from what I have seen and last forever. I would add to any of the HP comments that they have been doing some pretty dodgy things recently which include a firmware update that stops you printing without genuine ink and I believe brother did the same a while back...

new to all this so need help to know is this 2nd hand pc is worth what the seller is asking?!

I don't think it's a bad buy at that price, especially in this market. I don't particularly like the HDD, but I would maybe buy a very cheap SSD for putting the OS on, or if you don't have the cash, maybe the cheaper system with an SSD. Just my thoughts.
