    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Ah nightmare, so they'd just stick ONT on closest wall then I'd have to run ethernet to cupboard, or would they run fibre into building to the cupboard and put ONT in there? I'm guessing the former?

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Thanks, yeah - it's definitely underground as there's no poles in the area. Current phone line comes into a cupboard in the middle of the house (not against an outside wall - not sure where the actual entry point is to the house though) - so I imagine they'll put the box on the outside wall and...

    BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Anyone know the rough plan for a fibre install on a 8 year old house? I'd like to assume there's some sort of duct underground to the property for the existing copper wire, so would expect they can just pull through fibre? OR appointment booked for early Sept but can't seem to get any other info.

    ASUS Prime Z690 D4 - Boot issue

Is your Windows 10 partition formatted as MBR rather than GPT? If so you'll need to use mbr2gpt to convert it so that you can boot it.

    New Build

Thanks - I had a look at the DDR5, for 32GB at slowest speed available it's about £150 so wasn't sure it was worth the £40 odd jump? Do you have any recommendations on an AIO cooler, preferably one that I won't have to wait weeks to get a few screws :p

    New Build

I held off but don't think it'll really make a difference to the level of card I'm going for as it's only the 2 higher series released, so I bought a 3060Ti FE. I also bought the white Corsair 750w modular PSU as I wanted the 3XL mat at half price, but had to add something to get it over £20 for...

    New Build

It seems my CPU doesn't support Windows 11 so I guess it's finally time for an upgrade, been running this since 2015. Current specs: Intel i5 5820k @ 3.3Ghz Gigabyte X99-SLI Gigabyte 980 Ti G1 Gaming Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000Mhz - 12GB (3x4GB, one stick died many years ago) EVGA SuperNova...

    Multi-zone Smart Thermostat

I want it to just heat up that zone, so currently I've got 2 zones with 2 thermostats, if zone 1 goes below it'll heat zone 1 - so just looking for it to do the same initially. I've currently got 2 wired stats I believe, so guessing I can buy an add-on wired stat rather than wireless?

    Multi-zone Smart Thermostat

Thanks all, with tado is it just a case of buying 2 of the starter kits/thermostats for the 2 zones (similar to Nest)? I'm not that bothered about valves on each heater initially (could look to do it at a later date, they don't tend to be changed as it is).

    Multi-zone Smart Thermostat

Is it still something they've actively selling? their website doesn't seem to offer it (unless I'm blind) and places like toolstation, Amazon, etc are all out of stock

    Multi-zone Smart Thermostat

Any recommendations based on actual use? My thoughts so far have been with the Nest Thermostat 3rd Gen, annoyingly I'd have to buy 2 as there's no multi-zone 'addon' for these so would need to have 2 individual ones. Primarily just looking to turn on heating remotely and set timers (6 per day...

Scottish Government - Fire & Smoke Alarm Laws

I had a look at the FireAngel Pro's but seemed to be hard to source the mains powered ones and didn't seem to have best reputation. I'm getting some Aico's installed in the short term, hopefully there's more options for smart alarms in Scotland in a year or so. Let me know how you get on with...

Scottish Government - Fire & Smoke Alarm Laws

Yeah I'm in the same situation, put 3 Nest Protect's in 2 years ago, standalone heat detector and carbon monoxide alarm in the kitchen. Having to rip them out and put dumber alarms in because Google don't seem to be doing anything. Bloody annoying

    Car suddenly stopped

Thanks all for replies. That's the problem, I have no issues paying £118 if they'll definitely find the fault and fix it, but I don't want to pay for the diagnostic check then they find nothing and I'm in the exact same situation next month.. I'll probably end up going down that route - not...

    Car suddenly stopped

Yeah - I mean in my case too there was no fault codes found by RAC (except Accessories positive relay output fault which he said wouldn't have caused engine to stop or fail to start). Looking at that accessories fault there's the following 2 threads by someone...

    Car suddenly stopped

Thanks, interesting read.. The car was only serviced 4 months ago and had everything topped up. I've got to take it in for a software update (recall) so might see if I can get oil topped up etc again during that. Surely anything like that (i.e. saving the engine from malfunction based on post...

    Car suddenly stopped

All electrics seemed fine (display/nav came on and dashboard lights lit up), could hear it trying to start as normal and it wouldn't start. 50 minutes later it starts no problem, the RAC guy started it another 3-4 times then it was fine for the remainder of the drive home. That's my worry, if...
