The 5970's were awesome cards, can still play any game out today at very high settings. Got a feeling the HD 7990 will be good for a few years gaming aswell. rumoured to $849, not bad considering it's 2 x HD 7970's :)

The 7800 series launch a few weeks after the 7900 series, there will obviously be price cuts to every range of current card, low-mid-high as the new replacements are released. Not long to wait now...

It's worth waiting, the 7870's and 7850's are out very soon. The performance will be better and not just that it will push down the cost of the current cards more as they become eol. You might be able to grab a HD 6950 2GB for £150 or less in a few weeks, maybe a GTX 560 ti for £130, price drops...

I think you are cloud cucoo land my friend, every review/benchmark I have seen the HD 7970 destroys the GTX 580. Hands down pwns it, when overclocked the HD 7970 pi**es on it from a great height for good measure. The N fanboys will remain biased without reason, the HD 7970 is a great card...
