    Hypothetical small form factor build

I'm thinking mITX is the way to go, I need 1x2.5" bay plus 2x or 3x 3.5" bays. If there was the option I could probably do without a 5.25" bay as I only occasionally use my optical drive. It'd have to be something that I could fit in a [padded] suitcase ideally as leaving my current build at uni...

Just want to run a couple of issues I've had past someone

Following up on this thread after putting things off for ages and being too busy I've started trying to return a few items that appeared to fail on me. And just wanted to run them past some people with more knowledge than me. The first being my RAM(8GB Corsair Vengeance LP 1600MHz Dual...

    BSODing during boot

I was thinking of getting a liveCD of some kind. I tried to get a liveCD type thing on my usb drive from my tablet. I won't lie, I'm not a total expert but I usually know enough to fix any issue I have. The usb drive "liveCD" didn't work for whatever reason but I finally got a proper windows CD...

    BSODing during boot

Oh! Right, no, I forgot about that. There's a memtest of some kind built into my mobo. I think I'll get back to you on that one then. It's already late now and I've been missing my computer so I'll settle in, do a few things and then run memtest later. I've installed it to a usb drive so all...

    BSODing during boot

Done that already as per previous post: "Memory OK! Succeeds in system booting!" Are you saying I should run memtest on the sticks separately?

    BSODing during boot

Just cleared CMOS. Restored "optimised defaults" in BIOS/UEFI. Booted fine then I tried putting the second stick of RAM back in and was reminded of something I forgot to mention. It was bootlooping(I believe that's the term). Post, got to windows logo then went back to post and repeat. So I...

    BSODing during boot

"Memory OK! Succeeds in system booting!" Will follow up with this shortly. Edit: Booted as per suggested. It's working. Does this mean it's a RAM issue?

    BSODing during boot

Tried booting from OS drive and then from windows disc to try to install on a spare hard drive to be confronted by a BSOD a couple of seconds after the windows logo appears(while it's still on the screen). Current testing leads me to believe it's not a software problem, nor hard drive/SSD...

Wireless PCI-E/PCI card or powerline adapters?

You make a good point. I think I'll get an edimax PCI/PCI-E wireless adapter and should I not like the results I can always resell it on the bay.

Wireless PCI-E/PCI card or powerline adapters?

Or perhaps an access point? What kind of speed adapters/access points etc should I be looking at? 200/300Mbps?

Wireless PCI-E/PCI card or powerline adapters?

Trying to get my best bang for buck while getting reliability and speed. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I heard powerline adapters are the best but they aren't incredibly cheap. £35 seems to be cheap for 2 adapters. But I'm not sure if wireless has improved since I last used it. I...

    2TB HDD

I should be clearer - I can't actually afford a new hard drive right now and I don't need one right now due to not being able to fill it up at my current residence. When I am living in the right residence and have the money I'll get it. It'll probably only be 2TB though due to being a student...

    2TB HDD

I've been looking for a while and though I have no immediate requirement for one I am looking to buy before the year is out. I've been keeping an eye on things and lately it seems the new Seagate drives are the best from what I gather(up to 1TB per platter, 7,200RPM etc and [therefore] good...

    Advice for novice o/cer?

I'm running Asus P868-V LX, i5-2500K, Gelid tranquillo rev 2, arctic mx-4, CM 690 II, Antec Truepower New 550w and Corsair vengeance low profile 8GB 1600MHz RAM. Think that's everything useful. So I'm experimenting with ocing, hoping to get 4.5Ghz if possible but currently achieving: The...

    Project build zero

Ehhh, when I get more cable ties, I don't have enough to sort it out right now. Also, I did it that way because there was already that cable tie at the top left.

    Spec me a mouse

Anyone know how the scroll wheel feels like on the m325? From what I can find out it doesn't make a sound but it isn't clear how it feels. I assume similar to other mice but more rapid due to the 72 ratchets?

    Spec me a mouse

Oh, and one more thing; I'm not looking for a big mouse. It was the logitech m215 I tried before and that was pretty much perfect size and shape for me.
