I remember him having a go at me for recommending an XFX PSU citing that they were awful units and that one he'd tested went wrong. Got a bit aggressive about the whole thing weirdly.

I've also been through MSIs RMA twice, wasn't impressed with the speed of it. Both times it was around 3-4 weeks to get my GPU back. I imagine GALAX with their UK RMA base it'd be a hell of a lot quicker. It's something I'm taking into consideration with my next GPU purchase. I never worried...

The more mature Nvidia software features would tip me towards the 970.

True. It'll always come down the silicon lottery at the end of the day. Good overclocking is never guaranteed.

I'd lean to the 970. Don't feel the 980 is really worth the extra unless you have to have the top end card.

I'd look at the EVGA G2, it's a phenomenal unit.

I'd wait until W3 releases if you're in no rush. Might snag a good deal on a 970 when the hype lessens a little.

Is it the L8 modular Be Quiet! 430w? If so it is overspecced and can pull 512w under full load. I'd have no worries if it is powering a 970 on it alongside that low wattage i3.

Yeah the G2 is a fantastic unit. If it falls within your budget I'd grab it, it'll be you set for years and years.

Good to hear positive things on this card. Have had my eye on it, usually find GALAX to be quite an under-rated brand. Pity there's no 'proper' reviews out there like there was on say their 760.
