Me again.
Anyone know of any good bar tapes that are black with a bit of a glossy shine to them that arent tacky (I'm too much of a scratter for tacky) or leather (it's a couple of decades til.i draw my pension yet)
with all my banging on about geometry the other day, i found this again recently

lets you pop in all the numbers including spacers etc, only thing it doesnt allow for is bar reach
that is a handsome bike. You do look like you're on too small though. Very "on top" of it if you get me? is the 56 too much bigger?
by the look it has quite short bars. I'd ask your fitter about bar reach while you are talking .
582 is the stack of the frame according to the diagram, the 75 above it is the difference between the frame stack and the centre-of-bar-tops stack. this puts the centre of the bars at 657.
The effective reach (to the centre of the bar tops) is listed at 462 (the long arrow from the red bb...
frame stack and reach is only one part of the equation, a good starting point though. the L vitesse with a 10mm shorter stem would be the most obviously closest to your S6 with all else being equal.
all else includes...
- the number of spacers (adding spacers increases stack while slightly...
Time is more important than distance for commuting, any more than an hour door-to-desk is more than i'm prepared to commit to (by any means of travel). Traffic lights will kill your average speed and make you sweaty from the constant starting efforts and once you get past a few miles/start going...
I know of a shimano crank recall from 1996 or 7 that is still being honoured. Last heard of someone getting one replaced last year - that particular one you just need to find a shop that remembers it.
Back in-period I had one and just turning up at my nearest bike shop (not the one i'd got the...
Rent an e-bike.
big climbs like that are an hour plus of extremely high effort. If it's flat round your way, and you dont have a turbotrainer, then to get that level of effort you're probably looking at some TT style efforts over 25 miles ish?
Indoor is absolutely better for training, especially on limited time, but unless you race do you really *honestly* need to train with that level of specificity?
I'd rather be a bit cold or a bit wet (or get fat) than be on a turbo. I'm also lucky enough to have up to 30 miles of an out-and back with less than half a mile of actual roads at the start/end
I'm quite bad for that. I like going fast and I don't like slowing down so if I'm not careful I end up ramping up power to maintain speed on the early slopes. I have to talk to myself and remind myself to hold cadence not speed and I'm usually alright.
