Are you a top revenue earner?

It's deffo not a long-term place for us either. Hopefully 6 years or so here buys us a house and rental in the UK, and helps us avoid eye-watering childcare costs of incoming children in the next year or so. We're hoping by early 40s to be mortgage-free with decent passive income. Short term...

Are you a top revenue earner?

Healthily in the 100k+ bracket (GBP), but working in the UAE so not sure it really counts. Approaching the 200k income for household if I include my fiance.

Would you go to a theme park on your own?

I went to a theme park for a work trip with one colleague who also happens to be one of my best friends, for a consultation project we were offering help on. We finished the day early and proceeded to have a great afternoon! I don't see why going on your own should be seen as odd - you're only...

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Fought my way into the loft, and opened up previously sealed, and vast voids, above my pitched roof dormers. Found ZERO loft insulation, so figured out why it's so cold in the winter. Also removed a section of plasterboard in the upstairs bathroom to reveal the eaves and void. Also zero...

    Weird Things Your Neighbours Do

Immediate neighbour to my left...plugs and unplugs sockets in our joined wall quite possibly hundreds of times a day. And opens and closes drawers 10s of times each day, mostly in the evening. I hear every single one. I like to imagine she has an entire wall dedicated to plug sockets and drawers...

Advice for DIY install of bathroom and waterproofing walls - can I tile a dot and dabbed wall?

Oh I see! Think I was thinking of the tile board wide washers and screws, look really similar from photos, but different behind the wall.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Thankfully I still have my poverty bath (and mixed tap with shower head) plumbed in behind me in the photo  That'll be the next job!

Advice for DIY install of bathroom and waterproofing walls - can I tile a dot and dabbed wall?

It's probably too late now, but you're actually supposed to stick the spankers inbteween two panels, so one spanker essentially 'joins' them together. You then use a board fixing silicone type material to seal them all in and splurge between any gaps. Your version will probably work fine though!

Interesting reading so far, lots going on! Going to look ace when it's finished. Weirdly echoes lots of the work I'm doing in my bathroom. Started end of August and still going, just takes forever!

The OcUK Relationship Counselling and Hugs Thread

I've never understood this mentality. Feels quite playground-ish, but I guess it depends on personal circumstances and what you're looking for. Personally, met my current partner on Tinder in November, she messaged first. We've messaged each other multiple times every single day since then, and...

The OcUK Relationship Counselling and Hugs Thread

Stay strong mate. Literally going through the same thing myself, 7.5 years. Almost 4 weeks in. Also not seen my son in that time. Remember to feel what you feel, but don't dwell on it for too long. Get active. Make loads of plans with family and friends. Do things that make you feel good. And...

    It's funny how (fuel shortages)

Fuel light came on yesterday driving home from work. I'm a 'put in only what I need' sort of driver, so was a bit pained to fill the car up. Without the car I can't get to work, like many people. So was the only option really!
