New Homes - Taylor Wimpey (Sherford, Plymouth)

Sherford is also on a flood plain too. Plenty of stories in the local news about houses being flooded. Plus access in and out is a right old PITA Plus, my last house was built by Taylor Wimpey in another area of Plymouth and had no end of issues with it. The main one was that it needed...

    The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Have been away from the game for a very long time and over last 2 years have only been getting on to keep my skills training up. Not sure if it wasted effort, but really do want to try and get back into the game and see what it has to offer now. Any pointers on a good corp to join to get back...

    Saw options

Am about to embark on a garden project of putting in some new softwood sleepers (100 x 200 x 2400) to make an L-shaped raised bed area and am wondering what would be the best option for doing the cuts? In total am looking at approximately a dozen cuts and want them to be as good as can be, as...

    Thick vs Thin

Thanks for the input guys. Have decided to go down the route of using thick clients, but will use mini PCs that can be hidden behind monitors. Main reason is to keep this cheap (I did some looking into the licencing requirements for thin clients and was a wee bit surprised) and also for when...

    Thick vs Thin

Have been tasked in work to come up with a design for a stand alone network that will be used for connecting 50 terminals to a server that is running a proprietary maintenance management database / planning tool. The infrastructure is pretty well set in stone as is utilising an existing fibre...

    Stacking and L3 switching

Cheers Chris, that was what I had thought would happen. Plan is create the stack and then enable the switching plus do other config work Using Dell N4032F switches. OS looks very similar to CISCO stuff.

    Stacking and L3 switching

Very quick sanity check here... Am creating a network that will utilise 6 x switches and they are going to be stacked. Running over it there will be 2 x VLAN (data and management) and am going to enable ip routing so that I can utilise a server to access the management side of things...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Has been up and running since early Dec, so have had a good run with it. TBH, the BT router seems to be doing a fair enough job, it is I just like to tinker. Have had a look at the user manual for the USG and despite the pics I have seen showing that the 2nd WAN port also has a LAN...

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Need some advice as have been out of the looking at routers side of things for a while. Am in a new build and am getting BT FTTP/H coming in at 330/60 which is nice. The inner geek in me is wanting to replace the BT HH and put something else in its place. At present my wifi is provided by a...

    *** The Official iOS 12 Thread ***

Have carried out a few tests and it looks like it is an issue with the NetFlix app itself. Amazon Prime video stream with zero issues through the lightning adapter and can play from my laptop to the TV using same cable with no issues, so has to be down to the app. Hopefully they will push an...

    *** The Official iOS 12 Thread ***

Not sure if my issue is related to the latest IOS update but have having a mare playing back Netflix videos via the lightning to HDMI adapter. Get very pixelated playback (not like poor download quality but crazy video artifacting) and also have it where the image will freeze on the TV but the...

    Which option for UHD Bluray

Missed all the replies as was away sorry. Thanks for the advice, but in the end have decided to go for the Apple TV 4K. Looking at the price comparisons for the actual films was the clincher for me. They are cheaper from what I have seen so far and also it saves on cluttering my house up with...

    New Build Options and Decision

My work will come after the build has completed........ I did ask about it getting put in as part of the build and was flatly refused this. They offered everything else in the world as standard, but not this. Don't even think they wold let me go on there and do it, even though I do it in...

    New Build Options and Decision

Am due to move into a new build 2 bed house in the next few months and have been looking at my options for networking around the house. Internet will be FTTP provided by BT as this is tied in with the build and having spoken to them they said (large pinch of salt in hand) that I could get...

    *** Sky Q Thread ***

Just called Sky and it is still the same, yo need multi-room to get the UHD content, along with the 2 TB box. As much as I wanted to see the UHD content, do not want it that much, so will just stick with a standard home move and move my current full package over and stick with that.

    *** Sky Q Thread ***

Very quick question...do you still need to get multi-room to be able to get the UHD content? Reason for asking is due to move soon and as I will be in a house on my own have no need for multi-room, so will only want to view on my TV in living room
