Dreadful news. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have a place in this years TCR, inspired by Mike & his enthusiasm for cycling & adventure. Such a tragedy that I'll not be able to thank him personally for the opportunity.

I used http://www.free-motion.com in Gran Canaria, bike was a brand new & unused BH Quartz Ultegra (I had to bed the pads / rotors in before I made any big descents), so I'm tempted to use them again. That said, I've always liked BMC bikes & that Roadmachine RM02 Ultegra Di2 looks quite tasty.

If that was this years Velothon, I had pretty much the same experience, but did manage to get just enough pace to glide over without loading the pedals too much. Sounded like there was a hefty crash and much commotion just as I'd passed over.
