HTPC New build - Seeking Advice/Suggestions

The standard Intel cooler will fit in, the HDD might be a squeeze but happy to drop this into an Icy Box or something like that if it doesn't, so no biggie.

HTPC New build - Seeking Advice/Suggestions

I am looking to build a new HTPC. The plan is to use it as an always on 24/7 machine running a PLEX server and encoding movies. Storage can be primarily taken care of by external HDD/s if needed. My preference is for an ITX build as I don't really want an intrusive noisy box in the corner of my...

    Overclocking AMD graphics

Depends on the card, my card was already factory clocked hard and I overcooked it a little bit to the stage I occasionally get graphics tear on the screen, still works thou.

F@H suddenly not utilising GPU fully?

Spoken for truth! Nearly went out and bought another 7970 card, managed to hold my nerve but went watercooling instead to keep the noise under control! :D

    im baaaack ! :D

Back folding again, PC is now under water, still some room to overclock the CPU. GPU Clock running at 1125 Mhz (1000) Memory running at 1575 Mhz (1425) AMD Overdrive won't let me go beyond these limits due to the software but my bet is I could overclock the card a lot more and probably find...

BUILD LOG: First time Watercooling Project - 4770K & 7970 GFX

All Done! All installed and running away nicely. Currently overclocked to 4.4Ghz stable and have been able to achieve 4.5Ghz (F@H) crashes but gaming is fine. I have only been testing for a couple of hours so more work to do but I am fairly confident I should be able to get 4.5Ghz stable...

BUILD LOG: First time Watercooling Project - 4770K & 7970 GFX

A close up of the anti kink coiling and Primochill GHOST compression fittings, they are really solid and are really tight on the fittings, I would be very surprised if they were ever to slip off.

BUILD LOG: First time Watercooling Project - 4770K & 7970 GFX

Leak Testing I tested the whole loop outside the PC first and disconnected everything from the PSU except the pump and started the PC with using the paper-clip method Pump running away, I used the foam that the pump is sitting on to mount it to the side of the case using heavy duty...

BUILD LOG: First time Watercooling Project - 4770K & 7970 GFX

EK-Supremacy Copper waterblock VGA Card block Primochill GHOST Compression fittings. These are a lot bigger than I had anticipated at first, I might have gone for smaller tubing had I known any better. They do give a nice clean finish thou. Prepped up with PTFE tape around the...

BUILD LOG: First time Watercooling Project - 4770K & 7970 GFX

I have been pressed by a couple of OcUK fourm members to put together a build log for my PC so here it is! I started this build a couple of months back with the intention of eventually watercooling it as it was a serious crime to leave that 4770K running at stock on air cooling. The plan was...

    >4GB ram? Why?

If your not using it don't upgrade, but for specialist applications such as VM's, CAD, photoshop processing there is a need for 8GB and in some cases 16GB of RAM for sure.

****** Official World of Tanks OcUK Clan ******

Platooning is better than playing solo as the platoon can act as a complete unit unlike a team of random idiots running around the map in an uncoordinated fashion. If one's lucky the random idiots might show some skill and you will be lucky. Tooning up with skilled players also improves your...

    HELP, first time w/cooling

I would recommend retiring your case. The Antec P180 is not am ideal platfom for a custom water cooling loop esp since you want to cool the CPU & GPU. You would need 3 x 120mm rads to provide cooling and maybe a 4th 120mm rad which would probably clash at the back of the case with the CPU. I had...

    1 Litre OK?

Halfords de-ionised water available in a 5L container for about £3-4 quid. Its great for flushing out your loop. I used it for flushing out my Alphacool rads prior to installation, the build quality is excellent so there was no debris when I did this. You can use de-ionised water as a coolant...

What to get my daughter for her 3rd birthday?

Can't go wrong with crayons, paper, colouring pencils, glitter, glue, hours of endless entertainment. A kitchen set, Doc McStuffins, Peppa Pig stuff plenty of options there. Lego is also good too, a small bike?

    Does anyone regret going Watercooling?

Just took the dive into the watercooling fray and went straight for the custom loop to cool the cpu and gpu. I am still waiting on all the parts to arrive but its a great learning project along the way, doing your research and reading the forums here has been of tremendous assistance picking...
