Could be a PSU issue. Ive had the event-id 41 before and I narrowed it down to an audio driver conflict. I disabled all of my drivers apart from the Realtek one and its been happy ever since.

Regarding the frames - Im assuming you're playing with vsync on? Im not aware of the benchmarks with those games, but the difference will be if you turned vsync off and see where your frames go then. I seems both can reach the capped 60fps, but i'm guessing the 270 can get there with less...
