Gatwick parking is really expensive and there aren't many sit-down food options landside (a spoons and Giraffe at South, nothing North?). The Sofitel at North might be able to offer you parking if you book a table at one of their restaurants perhaps?

Contactless generally auths a transaction offline, so it'll go through regardless of the state of the underlying account (no balance, fraud blocked, closed etc). This is conceptually very similar but unrelated to floor limits.
File a complaint with the ASA if you're concerned. You can do it online in less than five minutes and a real person will email you back in a couple days to let you know whether they're taking the case forward.
Sounds like they were doing end of year reviews for everyone. You, being relatively new, were only notionally taken through the process whereas next year you'll be properly assessed for payrise/bonus/promotion.
