Installed and running. From a 1080 to a 1080Ti. Nerves aplenty that this was a complete waste of money. Nope. In Far Cry, went from 70fps to 100 fps....cant be too upset at that. I now have that headroom to run at max in everything. Happy face right here.
thought I would jump on here and say thanks. I read this thread and it helped me make my mind up about which Ti to buy. Extreme on the way, arrives tomorrow. :)
Thanks @Ayahuasca and @opethdisciple I am sorely tempted - the resell value of the 1080 is still high so I will not lose much at all - Off I go to research which 1080ti to get. Then I can forget cards and game until end of next year, where we might have more visibility of newer models...
Gaming at 3440x1440 and planning to stay there for a long time. The 1080 just about meets the 100 fps for refresh rate but I do need to drop the settings on a few titles. Ideally I want that little bit of headroom to cover Project Cars 2 and any other AAA titles that come in the next year. I am...
Going from a 295x2 to a 1080 showed no real improvement in fps, but great improvement in gaming experience (bye bye SLI / Crossfire stutter). So I am really keen to see what the next round of Nvidia cards are capable of. 100fps in all games at top settings on a Ultrawide 1440 screen. Oh that...
Really good analogy!!
I took a break away from gaming for a bit and having come back, the difference between games just a few years ago and today amazed me. Far Cry 4 being one that literally took my breath away. I had the same response to that game as I did to the original Crysis game. There...
Correct me if iam wrong, but surely AMD have not set the prices that are currently advertised, market forces are driving them up. Not sure how this is AMD's fault. It will fall with teh supplier (retailer) and the users (buying everything in sight!!) :)
Well, I am probably in the minority here, but the benchmarks don't look as bad as I thought they would. Seems that AMD have matched the 1070/1080 with their Vega solutions - Yes it is a year later than the Nvidia offering, but given that there is nothing faster on the horizon from either...
I bought a 1080 a few months ago, couldn't wait any more on the AMD response and looks like the decision didn't punish me. Not that what AMD have offered is bad, just no better than the 1080 at the moment.
ti does seem that the huge increases in performance that were apparent every generation...
My 2 cents....which is darn cheaper than the price of the pain that Crossfire will bring!!
On paper and in some games, the performance is amazing. Crossfire is a cheap way of increasing frame rates. The reality is that you will spend a lot of time chasing drivers, settings, configurations and...
Just finished this game - really enjoyed it. The graphics taht seemed last generation blurred into insiginficance once the narrative and engagement of the game took over. First time in a while I have wanted to get back and finish the next level of a game!!
Here we go. Excuse the light, study is temp as building new one this month.

Well, she turned up a day late (thanks rainforest courier of useless - could have bought it here as i only bought it from rainforest for a quicker delivery) Unpacked and on desk. Pics to come later.
Early indications are wow!!! Lovely screen. No dead pixels and a small amount of bleed in each...
Hello everyone - I am looking for a new monitor. I broke my ankle at the weekend and am thinking retail therapy is the way forward :)
The other part is that I have an old 27" monitor that just doesnt cut it for gaming, so do want to upgrade to a 1440 ultra wide, preferably 34" or so. the GPU...
