Spec me a watch (not a smart one)

Sounds like OP's already made a decision, but this is what I'd have suggested. Casio LCW-M170TD-1AER https://www.casio-europe.com/euro/products/watches/radio-controlled/lcw-m170td-1aer/ Solar powered - shouldn't run out of power Titanium case and strap, sapphire window - durable Radio...

What Linux Operating Systems do you like?

Arch on my desktop - I use it most and have time to keep it up to date. Latest Kubuntu on my laptop for ease of use and being reasonably up to date where I don't need the bleeding edge. Latest Ubuntu LTS on my home server, stripped right back to the necessities.

    ** Diablo 2 Resurrected Thread **

Have you tried pressing G in-game to switch between old and new graphics? The beta's had its problems, but graphics is one area they've done a fantastic job imho. The game looks great and yet as a long-time D2 player everything is still absolutely recognisable as in the original game.

Is my PSU ok for now? will upgrade in few months

Title literally states it'll be upgraded in a few months! In the meantime it'll be absolutely fine. I haven't looked at reviews, but as a PSU from a reputable brand it's not going to be truly terrible; it probably won't have the longevity of a better one, the power delivery won't be as smooth...

    Estate 10-12k

As others have said, Octavia Estate is always a solid choice. Kia Ceed Sportswagon could be worth a look too - ignore the name, there's nothing sporty about them, but they're solid cars and, from a quick look near me on Autotrader, cheaper than Octavia estates of similar vintage.

Ubuntu /boot/ filling up, old kernels issue help

    This just prompted me to tidy up a couple of machines, here's what I came up with: dpkg -l | grep 'ii linux-image\|ii linux-headers\|ii linux-modules\|ii linux-tools' | cut -d ' ' -f3 | grep -v `uname -r | cut -d '-' -f1-2` | grep '[0-9]' > oldKernels && sudo apt remove `cat oldKernels`...

That's a fantastic Veil with an unmodded camera. Nice round stars into the corners - flattener, cropped or both?

Quick spec check - £500 build

Only thing I'd suggest (and may already be the case, but isn't specified) is to make sure that 8GB ram is 2x4GB rather than 1x8GB, unless it's getting upgraded with a second 8GB fairly soon. Double your memory bandwidth is nothing to sniff at, and as the motherboard has 4 ram slots you can...

AMD Announces RX 470 and RX 460 cards

Then people will just buy 1060s.

AMD RADEON RX 470 SERIES NOW AVAILABLE FROM £164.99 DELIVERED!!

They're mostly priced much too close to 4GB 480s. Just £11 difference for 46MHz boost increase and 256 more shaders if you compare the Nitro+ OC 470 and Nitro+ 4GB 480. Unless you're in a hurry (470 is in stock) I can't see why anyone would get the 470. The £165 card is the only tempting one.

Best way to apply thermal paste

I think it depends on what you're applying paste to. If it's a small bare chip then a grain of rice should be ok. If it's a CPU with IHS then a grain of rice probably won't be sufficient to cover the whole thing.

Best way to apply thermal paste

Blob for me. In terms of quantity I've found that too little is definitely worse than too much so I tend to err on the side of caution. Sure, there's a sweet spot, but providing you're using a non-conductive paste then any excess (within reason) will get squeezed out and won't cause any harm.

    B-grade stock, would you?

Had a couple of B grade A10-5800Ks, both were boxed with coolers but clearly used (paste on both IHS and cooler), they're still going strong with zero issues. Really took a risk and bought a B grade Seagate 3TB HDD. SMART reported <300hrs powered on when I received it, now at 30151 hours and...

    i7 Skylake 6700 (Not K version) temp

I upgraded to a 6700 (non-k) rig over the weekend and used an Arctic Cooling Freezer i32. It's semi-passive in that the pwm fan completely stops at low temps, when the fan does spin up it's almost silent. I've upped the power limit in the bios so the chip can draw what it likes - hwmonitor...
