Have an Xbox One X and this monitor. Tested it today and the xbox automatically detects variable framerate tech with this screen, so yes apparently FreeSync does work. Surprised me as I thought the xb1x needed FreeSync2 like on the CHG70 series.
Interesting answers Steampunk. Do you think a good pair of Sennheiser 558s (or any high end stereo headphone setup) combined with a a R7/R8/R9 is good enough to make the most of this TrueAudio Feature? Or is a traditional 5.1 gaming headset the way forward here? As an audio enthusiast and...
This interview between Maximum PC and AMDs TrueAudio Design Engineer Carl Wakeland seems to throw some light on it:
MPC: One of the problems with gaming today is a lot of gamers run USB headsets. The DSP’s are external to the PC – but with TrueAudio, you’re saying you’re getting to the audio...
Hey Overclockers
I am looking at the R9 290X and I like the sound (bad-um-tisch) of this TrueAudio thing, but I already own a Asus Xonar DG soundcard http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/soundcards/2010/10/26/asus-xonar-dg-review/1
So here is my question: Does anyone know how these will work...
Hi all,
I've been trying my hand at a little cryptocurrency mining here and there and had some reasonable results. But I came across an article discussing the effectiveness of recent AMD/Nvidia GPUs in the area of password and hashed password recovery.
While I can't afford a monster setup...
Temperatures? I own a 280X Powercolor and I've also seen very light occasional artifacting after a few hours of pushing the GPU to 99-100% load. I would say it sounds like overheating memory. Btw I'm convinced this is actually a very common issue with the 280X, particularly on the brands that...
http://www.digitalversus.com/graphics-card/amd-radeon-r9-280x-3gb-p17328/test.html This review explains pretty much to a T what my card is doing, especially that spiking/cratering GPU load.
It's not just MSI, it's Powercolor too...
Hey Overclockers
My Powercolor 280X is great from a price/performance standpoint but crikey... it sounds worse than a GeForce FX5800 and despite the leafblower-style fan it apparently is struggling to stay cool.
It starts out smooth as butter at the beginning of my gaming session but after a...
UPDATE:
http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher
Thanks to this ATI Pixel Clock Patcher, I didn't realise there was an ATI version, I have overclocked my monitor to 120Hz successfully.
Looks like I'm going to be cancelling that 780GTX after all!
Good evening fellow overclockers
The past few days I had a few problems with my new Powercolor R9 280X - what sounded like a high-pitched whine, as well as a bizarre voltage throttling problem that was only resolved after raising the Power Limit to +20 in MSI Afterburner.
The thing is, now...
Done and tested: The mysterious judderiness has gone! Go Overclockers :) God damn though... how many frigging RMAs are Powercolor etc gonna get because of this. Also: Why? Why would anyone make a card that throttled itself like that? This is a fairly serious deal breaker for most people who...
Just a heads up for anyone considering it:
I was also in the same boat waiting endlessly for the TOXIC edition to come into harbour, so I give up and go for a Powercolor 280X...
Bad idea. The coil whine is horrendous, I can't overclock my monitor any more (well 10Hz higher doesn't count, when...
http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/3dmark-firestrike-645x1123.png
The 280X is pulling around 7500, my Firestrike score was 6847. Pretty small difference, could be down to the fact that it's a Powercolor version but I don't know.
Considering just sending it back and getting...
Hey Davanius,
When I ran 3DMark and the score came out as... "Better than 72% of the computers tested" I was kind of disappointed too, I mean a brand spanking new 280x is only better than 2/3's of the competition? In fact the first time I ran the benchmark it came out at "Better than 75%" so...
That's a really good point.
I'm pretty sensitive to changes in refresh rate and fps so it's certainly possible. But the thing is that I was playing on a GTX 660 before now and that was perceptively smoother ingame despite the fps being lower. Obviously wasn't getting +60Hz in battlefield 4...
Soon as I get home I'll do exactly that. May I ask what it is exactly that makes you think the power limit may have something to do with the (I realise it's not specific enough) fast-but-not-smooth kind of results I'm getting?
Interesting you single that out LtMatt. Powercolor has their own propietary tool, powertune or something, so I used that. I tried a very conservative overclock and didn't see any perceptible improvement so I set it back to default.
