Been away a while - What are the must have games?

I use GOG unless I can't get the game there, I tolerate steam. Prefer my games DRM free. So I can share them with those I care about to spread the joy of gaming.

*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

I got my first one earlier this year as my Sky Router was doing my head in, it was simply pathetic. So now I have an old system dusted off with pfSense installed and a Draytek Vigor 130... much better with my Ubiquity AP. Good reception everywhere in the house, currently use homeplugs for my...

    Need a little advice

I've heard good things about BitFenix, not used one myself. I'd always go for some extra fans myself, the standard fans are generally lower quality (so louder) and you can adjust the airflow by using different fan slots. I personally like simple case designs like the Corsair 550D or Fractal...

    Need a little advice

You seem pretty excited by the stuff you are buying, only have two recommendations: CPU Cooler should either be a custom water loop or a decent heatsink... Noctua, Akasa, beQuiet and others produce heatsinks that will last longer and perform just as well as AIO liquid coolers. The pursuit of...

    Note taking app

OneNote is definitely your best bet. I use Evernote but I don't think it allows drawings and writing in the same note, not that I've tested it to be honest. You can annotate images which I love.

Planning an upgrade from aging FX-8150, Looking for advice

Look at the difference in price between 16GB and 8GB, I doubt it is actually 2x the price. Games are starting to use more resources, which is why I have 16GB (it also helps with CAD and having loads of stuff running like I do). High single core performance will mean higher minimum frames more...

Planning an upgrade from aging FX-8150, Looking for advice

i5 vs i7 is hyper-threading, which is pointless for most games. If you don't do anything else intensive on your machine then don't bother with bumping up to an i7, keep the i5. I'd expect you'd see a good increase in performance for gaming, at least 8-10%, but everything else is likely to be...

When/why did financing cars become the norm?

I guess I'm too young to remember a time without these types of deals... Seems a reasonable way to pay for the use of a car. I look forward to the time when we pay for access to transportation from A to B rather than having to own a depreciating asset in order to achieve the same usability we...

    Spec help please

He wants future upgradeability though... not that big a difference in prices, at least not enough to get an i3 processor. I'd rather spend money on the more important things, like a motherboard, than skimp and save to get a slightly better processor. I did this with my first ever computer and...

    Spec help please

Tough ask for everything at a £250 budget... I'm assuming you want RAM, Motherboard, CPU and PSU to get a functioning computer. I'd go for the following: SuperFlower 450W PSU - £55 MSI Z170-A-Pro Motherboard - £95 Team Group Dark DDR4 RAM - £38 Intel pentium G4400 CPU - £54 Good PSU with a...

Source of Distilled Water in the UK

I get RO (Reverse Osmosis) water from my local fish store... £4 for 25 litres works a treat for me. I'm not a fan of wasting money on coolant, and found that the distilled water I bought corroded my quick release fittings to the point where they failed, so have not gone back to it since.

Noob question - Why can't we just have one lead to TV and then one lead to Amp?

I only have a Blu ray player with surround speakers... so I have everything going to the TV and then optical for the player. Everything being the Wii, Chromecast and Sky(at the moment). It is a much simpler solution to cut out the amp entirely. With Chromecast I am also going to completely...

Over 1000 hours in TF2... I have multiple games from the same series at over 300hours as well (Elder Scrolls and Total War). I will have you know I've not gamed in 2 months, I'm on the mend :P

    Motherboard Bottle-neck?

Have you tried any other games... Is Total War the only one with this problem? It is worth seeing how the system performs in multiple games. Do you live anywhere near Portsmouth? My system components are compatible with yours so if you're close enough I could come round and swap out components...
