In our current house the stud walls are built using 4 sheets of plasterboard sandwiched together with the odd 2x2 thrown in.

Yeh that wall only needs a handful of studs that's easily doable by hand if you don't want to be too spendy.

just sister the existing studs, then use packers/spacers on the top/bottom plate. You'll have it done this way in 2 hours or less if you crack on

10mm is nothing, if you're really bothered then you could just put new studs into the existing wall that overhang the baseplate and/or top plate by 10mm. Personally I wouldn't bother though for 10mm,

I paid a pest guy about 300 last year to drill 15 holes in my walls and inject some kind of substance to kill them, we'll see if that solved the issue this summer I guess.
