Does anybody else donate to Wikipedia or am I an idiot?

I have donated on occasion. If you read the relevant Wiki page they have assets of $254M and expenses of $169M, so they could only keep going for a year and a half without any funding. So yes, they do need our money.

    Spec me a non-gaming 4k 32" monitor

It seems Lenovo do a 32" version, the L32p-30, of my 27" Lenovo for £330 so that's that question answered.

You should be able to put the NIC driver on the USB stick and manually install the driver. No need to modify the install.

NVME or Solid State for gaming?

Yes, that's a 9th gen motherboard so early M.2 thus you only have one M.2 drive. Either you buy a large M.2 drive - 4 TB drives are available from £300 - or you get a SATA drive. Don't bother with Gen 5 drives - your slot may even be Gen 3.

NVME or Solid State for gaming?

In gaming you mostly won't notice the difference between a NVME drive and a SATA SSD. Games that use DirectStorage will see a difference but those seem to be few and far between. Where NVME comes into its own is in intensive IO - databases and the like; otherwise it's just fast. For most people...

What back GPU/s do you have ?

I have a RTX 3090 and an A770. I have several other legacy GPUs, like a Maxwell Titan (back from my niece), 240 of some description, and 780 Ti (which has a broken fan), and then we go back into AGP and earlier days with a V5 5500, 7800 GS, Voodoo 3000, and more. I may even have a VLB GPU...

    Spec me a non-gaming 4k 32" monitor

If my niece wants it, I'll be sending her to university with a gaming setup based around my RTX 3090 and my 27" 4k monitor. This will leave me without a gaming monitor so I'm looking at 32" OLEDs. 4k, 240 Hz, what's not to love? Hopefully some of them will have DP 2.1 inputs by the summer (some...

Get something even cheaper - gaming graphics not required. Take a look at the Intel Arc A310 (NOT the Matrox A310) for around £100 new so as to allow your buyer a GPU with hardware AV1.

    Time to retire the 1080ti

Your GPU has chosen an unfortunate time to expire. Within 6 months we should have both the new Intel Arc GPUs (possibly near RTX 4080 performance) and the Nvidia RTX 5090 (and maybe 5080). Have you identified the source(s) of the noise?
