Should smart phones be banned for under 16s?

I thought it was already banned. My wife works in a secondary school and the kids are not allowed phones inside. Even in their bags is banned. If they need to contact parents or vice versa it’s via the school phone system. This is a 1000+ pupil state school, good reputation.

    All inclusive resorts with kids

Thanks will take a look. Ideally looking for first-hand reports of folks having been to places if possible! Left field ideas here are taking 2 weeks in Japan, or 2 weeks in China, city hoping etc. But not sure kids would appreciate at this age, might end up spending a lot of money and having a...

Good quality football goal for garden?

Hi folks - can anyone recommend a medium sized football goal for the garden? Little one (7 yr old) has outgrown our mini ones, and now needs something more substantial to stop his thunderbolts! Seems to be a myriad of options. Can anyone recommend a decent quality one that will last a few...

Project: Two storey/part single storey side and rear extensions

We did not implement an internal door to our garage conversion office. The garage is semi-internal (hangs off the side of the main house). Main benefit being ability to completely sound isolate the office. My wife and kids can be inside having a party and I can still be on important calls etc...

    1D mk3 to what?

I went from Canon 6D to Canon R8 and the change in auto focus performance is remarkable. Many more keepers when using it as primary tool to snap growing kids.

Have you got a front door yet? Hows the snagging going? Need more pics of the epic back garden and view.

What is the best Apple product you have owned?

iPhone 12 mini. Love the form factor and performance, camera is still very useable for everyday shots. Battery even at 85% is fine for my use.

Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

Entirety of my SIPP is in Vanguard life strategy funds, held with Best Invest. Just about the best set-and-forget low-fees plan there is available in the UK. Returned 9/0.5/6/6.5/14% each year looking back over past 5 years.

When are you going fully electric?

Have been electric on the main family wagon for about a year now. ~1K miles a month. Averaging about 3p a mile as mostly charging at home with Octopus. Pre-heat in the mornings keeps the missus happy, and the electric power delivery is perfect around town. Complete get-in-and-drive experience...

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Fixed some laminate flooring gaps that have been bugging me for months, expected a killer job but ended up following this rather ingenious video and it worked a treat - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW6-QEPOjVE&ab_channel=LRN2DIY

I think this guy could take good pictures with a 350D, a great reminder its mostly not about the gear! Thanks for the link, lovely read.

    Fuji X Series

Some balance here about the X100VI amongst the hype. Talking about limits of lens on increased MPX sensor. https://youtu.be/DCHSeIBpifI?si=wcLHTrCVRiiFFxfc

    Fuji X Series

@Raymond Lin yeah owned several X100 versions. I suppose if you have pockets that allow comfortable carrying of the x100 then it is in a different category. Perhaps the 28mm pancake with the R8 is a better comparison, but then even less apples:apples.

    Fuji X Series

I don't need it, but Fuji really do nail the aesthetic and feel to make you want it. My R8+35mm isn't too much bigger, and takes better pictures (and is about the same price as the x100v1 thesedays!), but right brain still says "order the black x100v1".

    External Wall Insulation

Why out of interest? Every other house round here with render on bricks (no external insulation) is fine.
