have you been monitoring the temps cpu+gpu ? i would check task manager and see if resources skyrocket to 100% during these freezes, check if there is any weird app using more than it should etc. if KO i would check power management setting pout perormance mode increase process limit to 100%...

if you still have no signal on another PC, then it sound pretty dead to me. if you are an optimist you could try pluging it to the TV and see if you get any signal, but the 2nd PC test looks like a dead end especialy if it had it's own monitor.

1050Ti is a lot slower than the 970, while 390 is about the same performance( even slightly faster ) than the 970 and has 8GB of memory( against 4GB for the nvidia counter-parts ), i don't see the point of buying a card slower than what you had, beside the 390 gives you access to freesync...

Radeon are still more profitable in mining at those prices, so until asic drops for ether, prices won't go straight to MSRP, beside AMD stock shipped is usualy smaller than nvidia, so there isn't that many cards to go around.

as said above, check device manager and if the card actualy boot with the PC ( leds, fans , etc), if you can't get into windows to check the device manager, try and reseat the card on another PCI-e, and plug it using DVI

it's pretty straight forward, pick the game activate frtc, set the limit save, then launch the game ( or reboot if it was already launched ). if that doesn't work try global settings and set frtc there.

AMD had a great momentum with freesync (especialy the price they are at) and driver UI updates, ist's just too bad they didn't release a GPU to take advantage of that momentum, and the one they released (vega) are nowhere to be found, or at 200$ mark up over msrp. sad really

because you are paying for the intel taxe, if you facture in the price of the cpu would be basicaly halfed, and the gpu part a good 20-30% cheaper, so imo probably good 300-500$ off what intel laptop cost. this is the most interesting part of AMD portfolio for consumers, my guess they will try...

for now nvidia is still better, but AMD announced Vega Mobile few days ago, it's basicaly the part they sell to intel for their NUC, vega+hbm2 they will probably do the same and intergrate into into a single pcb with ryzen. performance would be equivalent to a GTX 1060.

ppl shouldn't buy 2hand, why you still want to give money to miners, just wait a couple of weeks and buy a brand new gpu at msrp with warranty, is trading mint condition + warranty for £30-£50 is not a good idea imo.

PS4 PRO + uncharted 4 + the last of us remastered + dragon ball fighter Z + Gran turismo + Yakuza 0 + Persona 5 + Horizon zero dawn + gravity rush 2 + monster hunter world + god of war ( i don't know if it's out yet ) much better value imo ( if you have a working gpu ), and that's a whole year...

yes but Nvidia might up the entry to mid range graphics to counter AMD and INTEL APUs and by extension high end, ,having APUs reaching 1060 level of perf is bad for business, the obvious move would be to drop 1060 to 2050, beside Nvidia seem to be ok with releasing a new titan every 6 months...

if you already have a gpu, i would say keep your money, if crypto mining is done for now, nvidia would need to release their new line up, probably early Q2
