You do not need the Vive software installed. You only need Steam.

The tempered glass is attached via thumb screws rather than the hinge on the regular version and I imagine they didn't find an easy way to attach a hinge to a heavy piece of glass. So it looks like you might need an entire case if you fancy it!

I would say definitely. I've had my Vive for over 2 weeks and Hover Junkers is the game I keep going back to.

I got two as well after HTC did not process a cancellation. Sold it on eBay a couple days ago for £1200 instead of returning it.

My colleague built the Veer, I have built a few S2.0's and a X1.0. He said the HDD mount is also very tight on his too, he only uses 1 SSD though so just left it out. Here is a link to a album with some pics of his Veer's assembly. Hope this helps.
