    £750 ish on gaming laptop

I posted t’other day about wanting the new resident evil 2 remake. My current pc is destined to be sold (as a whole or in bits). I’ve been eyeing up some of the gaming laptops on OC, there are several around the £750 mark, give or take. I threw them in my basket but can’t seem to get the bb code...

Would anyone likely buy my current PC? Or upgrade?

How much would you have to spend on a new system? :) Gah, not entirely sure. It would depend on how much I could raise from the existing sale. I’m also flogging a couple of other bits around the house to raise capital. I’ll still have to add to it all ultimately. It’ll be a budget conscious...

Would anyone likely buy my current PC? Or upgrade?

Mega dilemma: I've had my PC for about four years now (Overclockers build) and I've basically only used it for a single game until now. I'm still likely to play this game in the future (World of tanks) but I really really want the new Resident evil 2 (remake) and I believe my setup just won't...

    2019 Chilli Growing thread

I went full on this year. Built myself a grow cupboard using some old bits of kitchen cabinet and IKEA billy bookcase + bubblewrap and reflective radiator sheeting. I also got a mega 200W CFL bulb which gives off some serious heat. Also acquired heated propagators for additional win...

Heads up. Santander 123 fee increase: £2>£5 a month

Martin Lewis' review basically contains all the essentials, if you've over a certain amount of cash in the account it's still the market leader. I'm over the £8000-ish threshold so i'm keeping hold of it. The only way you're going to trump the rates with the amount of cash concerned is via...

Views on opting out of NHS pension temporarily

Yup I'm positive that the nhs pension scheme trumps any private scheme that you can find on the market. Lower band staff might grumble at their successive years of pay cuts but the pension alone is a huge deferred pay rise. Anyone sensible with their long term planning should use it. One day it...

Views on opting out of NHS pension temporarily

Make sure you do opt back in. First, i'd visit money saving expert to see if there is any other way you can slash your bills etc and claw some cash from other areas. The NHS pension scheme is easily the greatest deferred pay rise in the land and you should make as much use out of it as possible...

    England and Wales smokers, beware!

If we ignore the utter absurdity of this claim for a second, do you realise that smoke has other side effects that are not inhalation based? Ever heard of glue ear?

    England and Wales smokers, beware!

Everything is lacking evidence when you're a keyboard troll. With several years in pathology labs, and countless diseased lungs and medical reports reviewed, coupled with all academic research, there is no doubt in my mind or any other sane human's mind that second hand smoke is nasty business.

    Life / Income Protection Insurance

And further to my previous post, make sure you read the rules when declaring a family history of illness, ie those with a hereditary base. Whilst you should be truthful it's important to know that they usually want to know about immediate family only, so don't spook them with diseases that your...

    Life / Income Protection Insurance

I'm with Friends life, I've got income protection insurance. I pondered life insurance but the payout from my pension to my partner is pretty neat. Friends life are recommended by the genetics alliance for those with predictive genetic test results, but all insurers must abide by the same rules...

    The labour Leader thread...

Well, the union positions do involve liasing with people from regular walks of life, it was a job, in addition to his voluntary work. He's slightly more in touch than most given that he doesn't drive at all, doesn't get driven much, and when he gets on the train he can be found in the regular...

Crew divert transatlantic flight to save dog.

I watched that Arny movie where he tears a hole in the floor and gets in to the hold. I don't think it was to rescue a dog though, it's because he was a man that was running.
