Can you share the folders on your PC ad use a file browser to view from your phone? I use File Explorer and it's on both Android and iOS. You could try Syncthing for moving files across.

I've never thought about it - mine sticks out of the board and is directly in the fans airflow path so I suspect it wouldn't be needed. I wouldn't bother though. If it got that hot then I'd worry about other components too. :)

I wouldn't backup your videos, unless they are home movies. It'll take too long, you've seen that! I would purchase a small NAS that can have a mirrored disk setup (raid name forgotten) and backup those large videos using that! You could always have a third copy that you only backup to...
