I'm one not to upgrade every year as well. I last upgraded when I got my 2500k, almost 6 years ago now! It's been a champion and my girlfriend is going to be using it in her rig. Tempted by the 2700x, or even the 2700. Just not sure which to push the button on. Extra £40 to make sure it lasts...

Many thanks for your help Orbital, may I ask. What's the difference between the Aorus Gaming 5 and the Aorus ULTRA Gaming? Is it as simple as an extra £30 just for the WiFi and LEDs? Neither of which I would need :D

Many thanks, I have a Corsair 400Q and an ATX board in there already so I should be good with that size. Upon a closer inspection of my CPU cooler I have the H110i 280MM Extreme which does support the AM4 socket. I've now just got to decide whether I want AMD or Intel. D:

Without the SSD I have put together the below. Bit higher on the RAM speed. I read that a higher speed helps with the Ryzen CPU. Would the motherboard be suitable? I don't mind throwing an extra £50 at that if there's something more worthwhile. I do prefer the aesthetics of the Asus ROG here...

Thanks for the words guys. If it isn't worth going over to an m.2 then I'm happy to stick with my current storage situation. Orbital, without the additional storage do you think it would be worth the extra £30 as a whole to go for a ryzen 2700x instead of non x?

Thank you for the insight. I do already have a 1tb western digital something or other but that's only used for storing downloads which I think I will move over to my girlfriends PC instead and use that for storing the downloads. My current SSD is 250 Samsung evo 840, which is around 500...

Waiting to see what the Ryzen is like myself. I think I'm edging toward it due to playing mostly MMOs and always alt-tabbing, internet surfing and watching stuff at the same time. 2560x1440 60Hz, 1080 and a [email protected] at the moment.
