    Ryzen 5 7600 - 6 core & 12 threads so what's the 12 "cores" shown in MSI Afterburner?

    So that makes senses, thanks. So the 12 threads are run across the 6 cores sort of as I suggested in the OP?

    Ryzen 5 7600 - 6 core & 12 threads so what's the 12 "cores" shown in MSI Afterburner?

    So in MSI Afterburner it shows the stats (load, temp etc) for core 1-12. What's that actually showing when the processor has 6 cores and 12 threads? Is it that in actuality those 12 threads are simply running on the 6 cores, so from a performance POV, we have:- Core1 : Thread 1-2 Core2 : Thread...

    Helldivers 2

    Ah yes. There's a few of those, and each has a number of different missions. Why not just join them all up, so all the different missions types are easily seen all at once, rather than have to hunt around/click 3 or so "PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS" to find a mission your interested in? Odd... Ta!

    Helldivers 2

    Can someone explain how you find a mission on a planet with no people doing it? Virtually every mission has 1-3 people already doing it and you have to JOIN it. How do you simply play the mission without joining those people, so it's only you and your friends? This seems serious if there's four...

    So... Are the concerns about the nProtect Gameguard nothing to actually worry about?

    27" 1440p 75hz --> 144hz worth it?

    So assuming no gsync due to the KVM and/or HDMI requirement, getting a 144hz monitor should be a nice improvement? So for best outcome, if I'm playing a game that can't run at 144hz, so say is sitting 100-120fps, would you vsync that or just set a limit in the game to a max of 144fps? Note...

    Is a modern GPU (eg: NVidia 4070) a total waste of time on an old CPU (eg: Intel I7 4790K)? - Anyone running a modern(ish) GPU on an old CPU?

    Final plot twist. It's actually the dedicated mouse port on the KVM that's limiting the mouse down to ~100hz. Using one of the standard USB ports on the KVM gives ~1000hz.

    27" 1440p 75hz --> 144hz worth it?

    I playing Call of Duty DMZ, and I'll swear its more responsive if I do a frame limit of say 120fps rather than 75fps vsync'd. This would have to be HDMI through my KVM switch so no G sync?

    27" 1440p 75hz --> 144hz worth it?

    So I currently have an Asus PB278QV (2560x1440) IPS 75hz running through an Aten CS1822 HDMI KVM switch. The KVM switch is rated to 144hz at 1440p so I was wondering if there would be any worth from a gameplay experience point of view upgrading to a newer 1ms 144hz 1440p IPS monitor? Note: The...

    Is a modern GPU (eg: NVidia 4070) a total waste of time on an old CPU (eg: Intel I7 4790K)? - Anyone running a modern(ish) GPU on an old CPU?

    Yeh, using that other (1000hz) mouse has definately smoothed out the game during more frenetic moments... Sheesh!

    Is a modern GPU (eg: NVidia 4070) a total waste of time on an old CPU (eg: Intel I7 4790K)? - Anyone running a modern(ish) GPU on an old CPU?

    Well well well.... In looking around I stumbled upon this - https://cps-check.com/polling-rate-check Using my old mouse - a beloved microsoft mouse - it was measuring about 120hz. Using a spare Logitech mouse, that measured over 1000+hz. I'll swear that has improved the smoothness... I'll...

    Is a modern GPU (eg: NVidia 4070) a total waste of time on an old CPU (eg: Intel I7 4790K)? - Anyone running a modern(ish) GPU on an old CPU?

    Well, it seems to be when other players are around which is odd. And the frame rate is a constant 75fps vsync'd. EDIT: Even turning off vsync and limiting to 100fps seems to feel the same...

    Feels like if you're trying to turn using the mouse, it's not smooth, making it quite hard to react/aim. Just had a really bad example when I had a bunch of enemy players nearby. But the frame rate is a constant 75fps.

    Is a modern GPU (eg: NVidia 4070) a total waste of time on an old CPU (eg: Intel I7 4790K)? - Anyone running a modern(ish) GPU on an old CPU?

    Right... A report back. Now running a new machine with a Ryzen 5 7600 and an NVidia 4070 Super. DMZ is now running at high details smoothly, BUT there still times, even though it's running at a constant 75fps with CPU and GPU hardly taxed, the feedback feels laggy. This seems to particularly be...

    Asus Dual 4070 Super - Coil whine so bad I will have to return it? Anything I can do/try first?

    Gigabyte RTX 4070 Gaming Super OC now in there... The sound of the coil whine is identical to the Asus Dual 4070 Super.... But much MUCH quieter. ie: You can hardly hear it with normal usage now.

    Oh, turning vsync off makes RDR2 even worse. Futuremark is bad as well for example.

    Asus Dual 4070 Super - Coil whine so bad I will have to return it? Anything I can do/try first?

    Done! GPU powered from two 8pin PCIe sockets instead of the single 16pin dedicated one... :) Coil whine identical... :(

    Can I use this cable to power my GPU? 2x6+2pin PCIe to a 16pin PCIe - Trying to stop coil whine...

    Right that worked! GPU powered from two 8pin PCIe sockets... :) Coil whine identical... :( ps: Thanks for the heads up about the adapter. I had looked, but it was tucked away right out of sight.

    Can I use this cable to power my GPU? 2x6+2pin PCIe to a 16pin PCIe - Trying to stop coil whine...

    The Asus Dual 4070 Super did not come with any adapters. The PSU is an MSI MPG A1000G. I think that cable (that came with the PSU) is aimed at connecting into the 16pin connector on the PSU, or provide two 6+2PCIe connectos for a GPU. I fear it is not aimed being used the other way around like...

    Asus Dual 4070 Super - Coil whine so bad I will have to return it? Anything I can do/try first?

    Tempted to power the 4070 differently from the PSU to see if that changes the whine. There is a cable with the PSU but I don't know if I can use it to connect the GPU to two PCIe 8 pins sockets on the PSU -...
