Ah sweet, are these tiny PCs pretty fast then? I see that first one is only 2666MHz. Do they come apart to install the M.2 myself or is that something selected when ordering?
My Dads PC is old, I remember building it years ago but could not tell you what's in there. If I can bring myself to look tomorrow then I will as I'm assuming there's more cobwebs than parts
The only thing he uses it for is web browsing (literally browsing the bay and paying bills) and...
That's weird that they're Steam specific like that, I only opened Steam as something to do to check connection but maybe it was similar. I don't think this one has USB 3 at the back though but I could be wrong.
Tonight I had the PC on for 4 hours with no disconnect! It does take maybe 30seconds...
Last night I uninstalled the dongle and installed it using the driver from the site which is older than the one that auto installed and it seemed to be running okay.
Now I've started it up and noticed the dongle light is a solid green rather than flashing like yesterday and it didn't connect at...
I always figured the WiFi dongles went into the motherboard at the back, a cleaner look and the front ones are free for your other things. I didn't know they might work better at the front
EDIT: 9 mins after a restart it's disconnect again but now the little usb icon is showing, the 'safely...
I've bought a new dongle tp-link ac600, everything seemed fine, turned the pc off and on a few times and it connected straight away. Then it disconnected but I remembered with it being new I had to uncheck the 'allow this device to turn off'.
Fine for 5 mins after a restart then it cut out but...
I don't have a card it's more of an adapter or dongle if you will, not sure if that makes a difference. It's right next to my PC and that stays connected so I know it's not too far from the router or anything, it's a gift for Christmas anyway so it's not staying here but I will definitely try...
It's plugged into the IO at the back if that's what you mean?
EDIT: I've just removed it from there and plugged it into one of the case USB ports at the front and it connected by itself o.O
EDIT 2: and it's gone off again lol lasted maybe 10 mins
Everything seems good with this new build except the wifi keeps disconnecting and I can't figure it out.
Windows 10, wifi adapter from the bay.
When I start it up it's disconnected the connects, perfect. Then I open Steam and continue a download which is fine for maybe 3 minutes then I notice...
For some reason I can't get that one to load, maybe I'm just not finding the set up or something. I tried the superposition one instead I'm sure it's similar maybe.
Not that I can test here that he'll be able to stream at the same time but at least I'll know the game can run
Apart from the odd little 'why is that happening' issues that I'm waiting until tomorrow to try and figure out, the Christmas gift build works but I'm getting everything set up and installed before I cable manage.
I want to make sure that this will play games smoothly and I don't have any games...
Thanks! Worst time to be building a brand new PC in this climate but I got good deals on most of the parts, especially the CPU. I was looking for the 2600 but someone showed me that one, it said it was new but I was skeptical but made an offer. They accepted and it turned up still sealed!
I knew it was one of the updated ones but didn't know it could go that far, that's good to know. All being well with the GPU I can't see him needing to upgrade it (or anything else hopefully) for at least a year, maybe more? I don't think he plays anything super intensive but he's into the new...
Today I managed to get my final part, so I have:
MSI b450 mortar max
512GB SSD
Crucial RGB 16GB 3200MHz
Ryzen 5 2600X with cooler
Corsair TX500M semi modular
Kolink Observatory Lite Mesh
GTX 1660 Ti
Wi-Fi dongle
Windows 10
For £607.69!
I'm pretty pleased with it at the moment in all honesty...
I feel like if I put a preorder in now I'd be so far at the back of the queue. Even ones on the bay are taking a week to auction and then it'd have to get here. I'd planned on getting it done 1-2 weeks before christmas to allow for fine tuning with temps/fans and the probability of me forgetting...
I'm trying second hand see how I get on but I hate the thought of something going wrong and not being able to just send it back or anything. Other than that would the 1650/1650 super be the next best bet to look for?
Do you think a single fan could keep it cool enough? The case isn't huge and I can do my best with cable management but I don't want to end up with a hot/noisy PC either
I know his monitor is 1440 but whether he plays at that I don't know. He's only 11 so maybe hasn't got into all that yet.
I'm not finding any dual fan 1660 supers available at the mo and I'm getting paranoid that time is ticking on when I need this before christmas
What are my alternatives to a 1660 super? I was looking at the 5500 XT 8GB, is that a lot worse than the 1660 super?
The rest of the build is
2600x...
