    4 or 5 Bay 3'5" Hard Drive USB3.0 Enclosure

Hello! I have this one and I am very happy with it. It has RAID, but you can just ignore it :). https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/product/tr-004

    10TB HDD

In here I have WD Gold, Seagate Exos and Toshiba Enterprise drives... all between 8 and 12TB. By far, the quieter in my hands are the Exos, the more annoying the WD Gold with the clicking sound and the noisier the Toshiba. However, the Toshiba do not click, so I find them preferable :).

    10TB WD Gold clicking.

Oh yep, I you have a rack of those it needs to stay as far as possible :D. Where I work, the cluster and racks are in the usual datacenter rooms, with aircons all the time and thick doors, and you can still hear the drives and fans if you walk nearby. To enter inside, you need to wear ear...

    10TB WD Gold clicking.

Lately I got a couple of Toshiba Enterprise 12TB, just to compare. These definitely do not click but oh boy, they are loud when reading and writing :p They remind me the old SCSI drives in the Silicon Graphics. I still have my O2 around with a 15K rpm hard drive and it is not much louder :D

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

I am not sure about the 3080 Xtreme, but the replacement 3090 Gaming OC I received does not have particularly "bad" thermals in this regard. When gaming and using 100% of the GPU the RAM never goes above 92ºC, and for normal tasks it stays at 68-72ºC. Always within the official tolerances.

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

Yes, I think that something was slightly wrong with some of the first batches. Relatively lots of people with the same problem, affecting both Aorus and regular Gigabytes. I guess it was a component common to both cards. In my first unit it was definitely a power issue, however the replacement...

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

EVGA is a great brand, yes :). I am sure it will be fine. The best you can do is to directly send a message to the RMA service, they are very fast and will take care of it. Their e-mail is: UK RMA Team <[email protected]> I found the web-based e-mail system to be mostly useless. They take...

Bought a 2nd hand motherboard and it has a chip broke off, can I re solder it?

Yes, that can be resoldered and it is easy enough :). However, you need to know what you are doing, otherwise you could damage the mobo. It could also be that the board works without that particular cap.

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

It will be Gigabyte yep, I guess that either Aorus or a normal Gigabyte, but I don't imagine them giving an Asus :D.

    10TB WD Gold clicking.

Probably not, because it is in an external enclosure :). But yes... all a bit anoying, I must say.

My many problems with a Gigabyte RTX 3090 Gaming OC (long read).

I am actually using the 461.40 version of the Studio Drivers. I think it is not the last one, but it is reasonably new :).

My many problems with a Gigabyte RTX 3090 Gaming OC (long read).

Thanks! Fingers crossed, yes. With the current shortages I would not enjoy having to look for another card :(

My many problems with a Gigabyte RTX 3090 Gaming OC (long read).

Well, in my case it seems that the problems were totally GPU related. I have been with the new one during three weeks and I did not experiment any problem. However, the first unit was definitely not stable

What pc storage do you'll have?

    I have this... 2 NVMEs of 1TB (operating system and coding) 2 SDDs of 500GB (those are just for games) 2 x 1TB in RAID (work, essential files that are currently being used) 1 x 8TB (work/general storage) 2 x 12TB (work/general storage) 4 x 4TB (work/general storage)

    10TB WD Gold clicking.

OK, I reply myself to this question: it is a feature of the drive. I found it here: https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14842 I think they should have documented this, at least include a note with the unit, because otherwise you just start hearing the clicks every 5 seconds...

    10TB WD Gold clicking.

Hello! I recently got one of those for my DAS and I have noticed that the guy clicks quite a lot, even in IDLE. Every few seconds you can hear the heads "riick, riick, riick...". But besides this, it turns out that speed is fine and I cannot find any errors with the unit. I have a couple of...

will a gt 1030 work well with the q6600 in train simulator 2021?

You also need to consider that a Q6600 is a CPU from 2007. Back in those days, the best card would be a 8800 Ultra. If you go way above the 750Ti (that is way faster than the 8800) the CPU will be the bottlenecked in many games, although I don't know if that would be the case in Train Simulator :).

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

The RAM is definitely the hottest part, yup. My replacement card works well in that regard, with consistent 68ºC under little load, but it can easily hit 86ºC when gaming or running simulations. Actually, the backplate becomes so hot that you cannot even touch it. The first one was way hotter...

My new Gigabyte Master 3080 RMA'D

Yeah, that seems a good idea, or at least tell them to leave the GPU on for days. The problem I had is that the card could be fine for days, but then it would become unstable. If they keep it powered it is likely they will encounter the issue.

will a gt 1030 work well with the q6600 in train simulator 2021?

Well... considerably better than a 1030 is a simple 750 Ti, and you may grab a cheap one on Ebay. It will be waaaaaay faster than your GT 610 :).
