    Biker's Cafe Chatroom

I had a B4. Not as agile as the C1 but the stance was better for my height (6'5"). Superb bike. Sold it when my eldest son was born but wishing I'd kept it safely stashed in some dry garage.

    Path to passing

Thanks guys, really appreciate the responses and it's all helpful information. The key piece for me is that I now know you are able to ride your own bike for the tests but, as you say, insurance can be problematic. It really does seem like a massive scam put in place by individuals who have...

    Path to passing

I’m looking for an answer to what should be a simple question but I can’t find any clear guidance online. I have a number of bikes including a 125 and an A2 compatible. My sons are getting into riding and all have their CBT so can ride the 125 with L plates. But what happens regarding A2 once...

Possibly getting back into biking - advanced riding courses?

The reason that I posted and recommended Rapid training was because the comment in your original post: I completely agree with that sentiment and that is a large part of the focus of advanced training. Most decent trainers are keen bikers themselves and have that 'biking community' spirit. Why...

Possibly getting back into biking - advanced riding courses?

Yes, that's right. My comment was more in terms of excellent training but you do need your own bike for most post-test training and certainly for the Rapid courses.

Possibly getting back into biking - advanced riding courses?

I'd agree with that. I've got a few bikes of all capacities but I often find myself taking the GS310 in preference to one of the others because it's so easy and so much fun.

Possibly getting back into biking - advanced riding courses?

I've been riding for years. Done BikeSafe, FireBike, RosPA, training with private instructors etc., etc. Far and away the best training that I have ever had is with Rapid. It's expensive but you will be riding with hugely experienced instructors who train you in real-world riding on UK roads...

Ford S-max, lower miles or newer car?

Curbing is a constant issue! Interestingly when I was looking to change I did have a good look at the S-Max but felt that the build quality of the more recent models was nothing like as good as my older 57. Just felt less solid.

Ford S-max, lower miles or newer car?

I had a 57 plate Titanium 2.0 Diesel from new. Had done 240K when I gave it to a friend just before Christmas. Still on original clutch and only costs were consumables, servicing and usual wear & tear items. Superb car and still miss it. Go for one in best condition possible. Check for when the...

    Everest

Not an ultimate climbing challenge any more but certainly an incredibly impressive feat of physical and mental endurance. I just read into some posts that people were underestimating how hard an Everest ascent really is.

    Everest

Thanks for letting me know. I was aware of the film but hadn't realised that it was an adaptation of Krakauer's book. I'll see if I can get hold of a copy.

    Everest

I used to do a lot of rock climbing and Alpine mountaineering and was always rather dismissive of the Everest set and their desire to get to the summit via what is a relatively easy route in the technical sense. I now realise that my opinion was based entirely on my ignorance and bravado. Even...

    BMW and M Power Owners

I'm thinking that the time has come to sell my F14 and wondered if you guys could give pointers on the best place to advertise? I read so much on here about the horrors of AutoTrader :(. The car is a late 2016 640d. 12K miles. Any advice appreciated! Thanks.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. All tucked up in the garage now but I'll take that approach next time.

*** The Car Cleaning Thread ***

So, I've given the car a layer of Autoglym SRP followed by a layer of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. Should I now give it a going over with Sonax BSD or is this overkill? Any comments on this appreciated.

Help with my son's EPQ - A short survey

Thanks both. Tom is now following this thread so I'm sure he'll be correcting things. Yes, I will. A few have mentioned this so I'll post once he's collated the results. Interestingly, yesterday he had a conversation with a guy who works for UK Power who was saying that the issue with the...
