** ASUS DO IT AGAIN: IPS, 144Hz & FREESYNC!!! Asus MG279Q thread **

Wow, this monitor just shot up in price! Had been planning to get one with xmas money but looks like I left it too late. Presumably the exchange rate has finally filtered through but it's nearly £100 more expensive on average than it was a week or two ago.

    Monitor upgrade for new GPU?

Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'll probably put off any decision for a bit, hopefully have a bit more cash to spend and perhaps prices will have dropped too. The new GPU has made such a difference on its own that I can deal with a smaller-than-I-would-like monitor for another six months or...

    Monitor upgrade for new GPU?

Thanks for the response. Can I ask why you'd go for the freesync/144mhz over the IPS? Is the smoothness a big difference maker for casual, non-competitive gaming?

    Monitor upgrade for new GPU?

Thanks for that. I must say the ultra-wide does look tempting but it's the kind of thing I'd really need to try out first. I can imagine being amazed; I can also imagine being underwhelmed. Does seem remarkably cheap for a freesync monitor.

    Monitor upgrade for new GPU?

Hello all, I've just added a new GPU (Radeon R9 390) to my system and, finding myself with a bit of Christmas money leftover, have started to think about upgrading my monitor. I'm currently on an ASUS VH226h (22inch, 1920x1080, around 7 years old now so well overdue replacement) but I'm...

    390: Sapphire or MSI

Yeah, that was what I thought at first but doing a bit of hunting around it seems a slightly newer model of the Sapphire 390 is coming onto the market. Several outlets have the 11244-00-20G model listed as discontinued with the 11244-01-20G an imminent replacement. Not sure what the...

    390: Sapphire or MSI

Thanks for the responses, guys. Good to get endorsements of both brands. The MSI seems more widely available at the moment in the UK so looks likely I'll be going with that. Should be some improvement over my current integrated HD4000 graphics. :)

    390: Sapphire or MSI

Hi, I'm planning to buy a Radeon R9 390 sometime before Christmas, either the MSI or Sapphire version (these two seem to get the most consistent recommendations). Both seem to be available in the £260-270 price bracket and I would welcome any advice on which of the two to plump for...
