    Have I destroyed my motherboard?

Working on a running PC is a good way to break it. Please take this to a professional. I turn mine off before i work on it

So it seems Openreach are coming after all. Would you jump ship from Virgin?

I switched from Virgin to Plusnet fibre this year and I'm happy with my choice. DL speed is similar but latency is quite a bit lower. I now get 12 ping to some EU servers rather than 25 Biggest advantage will be not having to do the virgin cancel, callback rubbish every renewal.

Official 2023 Canadian Grand Prix Thread - Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, Montreal - Round 9

Is anyone else having problems watching the highlights on All4? I get to about half way through the program and it stops working, tried on my smart TV and PC :(

Noob - Starter camera for wildlife photography

I'm a Nikon shooter, hence the Nikon suggestion. You have to be buying second hand at this budget. I went with the Nikon 7200 as it's a great body with a pretty high spec for the price. The lens is the most reach out could get for the remaining budget...

    Garage conversion permission

I'm converting my garage into a workshop. I'm going to cover the door opening with stock panelling covered both sides with cheap carpet. I'll make Frames from 2x1 wood clad one side in 6mm mdf and then wrap in carpet. Should add decent insulation and they will be easy (ish) to remove should I...

    Recommend winter gloves

For photography I wear some thin base layer gloves. Then some "sealskinz" fingerless convertible mittens over the top. Not cheap but very comfortable and I can still press all the camera buttons. https://www.sealskinz.com/products/windproof-cold-weather-convertible-mitt

RM before 1pm item not delivered

Nope. Had a van returned from the mechs today as it kept stopping due to dpf fault. A few hours into delivery and the same fault is showing on the dash ☹️ Very frustrating to not even have the basic tools to do the job. I was out till 5.30pm tonight delivering specials and doing collections on...

RM before 1pm item not delivered

The Van fleet is also very old and unreliable. The doors are literally falling off the vans in my area. Management won't bring in hire vans and the royal mail repair garage has a delay of several weeks. In my office there is a constant lack of vans so you end up having to share even if it's much...

    Spec me a dehumidifier please?

We have turned up the heating a bit but I think we would have to have the heating on for much longer and at a higher temperature to get rid of the condensation. Worst days are when we have washing to dry so I'm hoping that the dehumidifier will help with that and we won't need to run it for...

    Spec me a dehumidifier please?

Having dropped the heating lower we now have more problems with condensation (1930's 3bed detached) especially when drying washing. I think I'll try a desiccant dehumidifier. Any deals or recommendations, especially with black Friday coming up. Thanks.

Does anyone nowadays bother using their handbrake when sat at traffic lights?

Sitting low in the MX-5 is a constant reminder of how annoyingly blinding brake lights are at night when sat in traffic. I always use the handbrake and press the button so there is no annoying clicking.

    Electric shavers

My dad wants one of these for his birthday. Series 9 is too expensive. Is a Braun series 7 for £129 going to be ok? I think he has asked me to buy him one as he can't choose one... Any advice much appreciated

    Ultrasonic Cleaner Recommendation

I don't own one but I would be wary of the very cheap eBay ones. I have used a proper durston one and that was very effective. I think temperature control is important. My interest is jewelry, you may find better advice on a jewelry specific forum.

Air cooling on high(ish) end cpu experiences please

You can mitigate this with fan curves for the most part. My case fans all run via the case air temperature sensor, so there is no sudden changes. CPU fans have a big delay for ramp up and down to smooth things out. I also found that I only really need the fans to hit higher speeds once the...

Air cooling on high(ish) end cpu experiences please

I have a 5950x and a nd15 cooler. With a OL11 XL case and 6 fans temps are fine even during prolonged high load. Noise is perfectly fine for me when just the CPU is under load. Gaming is a bit louder (due to 3080ti) but I always wear headphones when gaming. I'm probably dropping a small amount...

    Crash in rdr2, advice please.

Sorry for not replying sooner. So I tested a load more times and decided that this was most likely motherboard related. So I ordered a MSI 570 tomahawk and just installed it. (Very fast delivery from OCUK, thanks) So far... completely fixed :D No more crash, just installed the wifi drivers...

    Crash in rdr2, advice please.

Nope.. Also crashed in Blender CPU test, exactly the same black screen GPU powered off. I'm now thinking motherboard. It was great with the 3600 but the 5950x was never great especially with 4 sticks of ram. Maybe its time to swap the b450 for something else, preferably something that can run...
