No, the yellow file icons were previously not there. They were icons made by the program like the audacity icon not like the Autodesk icon.

I should've said, each programme had its own program specific icon but lots are now a basic file icon.

Yeah totally. I have a phanteks riser and it just wouldn't work. Neither would the brand new cooler master riser I got hold of yesterday. I had to plug the GPU directly to motherboard to change the bios. The bios still sees the 3080 it as a gen 4 part but running at gen 3 speeds.

I'm seeing reduced fps and lower 1%'s as well. I might swap to direct to mb instead of a vertical setup I think. Disappointment is slowly setting in...

I have a cable by linkup (clever name...) which is the only 'certified' gen 4 cable I can find and if that works with g4 settings then, there is a hardware difference. Thanks for the compliments So, myth confirmed. A pcie 3.0 riser will not work between my board (an x570 aorus elite) and my 3080 when the bios is set to set to gen 4. I've tried two cables, both gen 3 cables and both resulted in no signal. Changing the bios to gen 3 and we have signal. FFS.

I did set it to 4.0 a little while ago when the gou was plugged directly into the mb but forgot to reset it prior to using the riser cable. Resetting the CMOS didn't alleviate this though

Nearly there. I think EK's amber orange could work here. So if anyone's interested I'd say EK's block is worth the cost. It feels like a very high quality product.
