I guess it's due to the need to have an X79 motherboard, which are expensive even now, making the 3930k less popular than those other chips.

Having previously owned a 390 and a Fury Nano, running both at 3440x1440, I can say that is not true. The nano outperformed the 390 in everything I threw at it.

At that price range you'd be looking at a 1070. Go for whichever one takes your fancy as they all perform mostly the same.

The Skylake motherboard in our latest office PC begs to differ. Its an Asus Z170-P D3 and is running fine with some Corsair XMS3 in it at 1.65v.

I owned a Nano, and ran mine at 1050 via undervolting and increasing the power limit to +30%. I left the fan on auto and never noticed any noise. I only ran in to issues when trying to overclock the memory. Edit: Mine was the XFX model if anyone is interested. No coil whine in game either...
