AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

AMD is also working on Zen5, this doesn't mean anything. Of course you work on future architectures. Actually Komachi mentioning that N24 didn't even tapeout yet, means pretty sure that RDNA3 also didn't tapeout. Last Navi 2x parts will tapeout before first N3x gpus. Otherwise N24 would make no...

The RTX 3080 TI isn't going to be- EDIT - No We Were All Wrong!

Everything point to a release (or at least announcement) in september. Latest in october it should be available. All other speculation out there is coming from 2 twitter accounts and it's impossible to know how good their info is. According to them there is not 3080Ti, but a 3090 with 5248...

AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

Raytracing is only one part of Raytracing (This sentence sounds strange, but it's really that way, i try to go on with the term "Tracing Rays"). Raytracing is split in three parts: 1. Tracing Rays, 2. Shading, 3. Denoising. With Turing Part1 is accelerated, but Raytracing is also extremely...

    GeForce GTX 1160 incoming ?

I don't think it'll be only for chinese market. RT Cores are just too slow on the small cards, so it makes sense to cut it out from the design. Should be a direct 1060 replacement and they can't do that with the massive Dies they have at the moment. As x06 chips normally are half x04 chips...

    AMD RX 3000 series

Worst fake ever. Someone seriously believing AMD will change all their naming to Nvidia naming?

Does this mean AMD can officially support hardware physx?

PhysX is the most used Physics middleware used out there, but not as GPU physics. It's very common as cpu physics engine. As for the main thread question, can AMD support it? On old games no, as no one will take the effort to patch old games. And for the future? I don't think it will change...

GTX 1080 or RTX 2070...which should I choose?

1080s won't get any cheaper, very few of the cards left. At the same price there's 0 reason to not go with the 2070 as it has a ton of features Pascal doesn't have even beside RTX, which is unclear, whether it will ever be useful for a 2070.

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

It's not a simple shrink, as it has DP and additional DL stuff. I'm very sceptical. https://www.amd.com/en/products/professional-graphics/instinct-mi60 20% performance increase by 7nm with 14,7 Tflops at 300W.

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

7nm process looks terrible. V20 with it's transistor count should be much smaller than it is.

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

They even stated at their conference call, that the event will be about their datacenter 7nm products. I expect a Vega20 Launch and Rome pre-release infos. It will be great to see how Vega20 looks, as it gives us big hints how much process improvements navi will get from 7nm.

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

Don't want to crush your dreams, but AMD already confirmed, that Navi won't come early 2018. But Navi Marketing will start CES 2019 with Lisas Keynote. Same as Polaris and Vega Marketing started around that time. Navi release will be after Computex or in Q3. Timelines are the same as Vega/Polaris.

Choices, Choices... 1070Ti or Vega 56

Yes, it's just one more polaris. It's a tough decision. I'll tend to the 2070, if you can get it somewhere for 460, but don't pay 499 for it. The MSI Armor is a really nice gpu and it's msrp is on the same level, as the 2070s for 460, just retailers hiked the price, because many people want the...

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

It should be a lot, otherwise i can't understand all this PC gaming is dying stuff, when 580/1060 are perfectly fine for it.

NVIDIA Readies TU104-based GeForce RTX 2070 Ti

2070 is full TU106. As TU106 is rather big, they need a salvage chip. 2060Ti based on TU106 with maybe 1920 cores or 2048 cores with 192Bit and 6Gb?

    Nvidia's next refresh...

8K won't be a thing for graphics for a very long time. It costs too much power. I prefer a good Whqd Upscaling to 4K, which will need 8x less graphics power than 8K. 8x the power means nowadays that you have to wait at least 10 years to get the same graphics on 8K as on wqhd. In this case i...

    Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

980Ti to 1080Ti was a process change. Without process change (12nm is just marketing) it's nearly impossible to have such an increase. We're slowly reaching the end of process changes with times between processes growing and growing. In 5 years you'll be happy to get 30% from a new gen. Can't...

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

AMD themself have stated that Navi will release after Epyc and Ryzen3 for desktop have launched. So definitely no early 2019 release, as these also need some time. Best case is an architecture announcement as with Polaris and Vega and a release after Computex.

NVIDIA Stock Falls 2.1% After Turing GPU Reviews Fail to Impress Morgan Stanley, are they doomed?

PS5? I'm not sure. But i bet on the next Xbox. MS needs a selling point against Sony to gain share and Raytracing is a pretty nice one. They were pretty active at the last Game Developers Conference to push DXR. Let the Devs get used to Raytracing and push it in a console with nearly the same...

    Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Shader and Bandwidth are only parts of the chips speed. There's also rasterization, which might be the bottleneck. This might be possible in some special cherry-picked cases, but not otherwise. This also totally don't fit with the performance graph we have from 1080 to 2080 from Nvs...

AMD 7nm GPU News and Rumours 2018/2019

Hoping for 7nm might lead to a long wait. The problems of 7nm aren't only yields, bigger problem is capacity. With GF out and Samsung not getting their 7nm ready, we only have TSMC with a monopoly. So who is fabbing at tsmc and wants to use 7nm? Apple, Qualcomm, Mediathek, Huawei, AMD, Nvidia +...
