What "man jobs" have you done today?

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I had to work in the morning (double time at least) but mowed the lawns and rescued a bee which the dog found stuck down the washing line hole.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Been really unwell the past week or so, slowly getting back into it. Deep cleaned my window vac (which we mostly use for the shower), did my monthly check on the car, cleaned the washing machine, and removed a nasty dangerous nail from the loft using my new hacksaw

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I've repaired our rain deflector on our upvc door. It had started to split but superglue seems to have done a good job. Is there a way to get it to stay in one place? Currently it's only resting on screws along the bottom of the door, so there's nothing to stop it travelling laterally. There...

Bathroom Extraction - Inline out of roof

yeah the mass is for dampening and the foam decouples it from the house. Suspending the fan is another way to decouple it, i'm just not sure I'd trust it not to come crashing down one day :D

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I adjusted the upvc doors to close tighter and, hopefully, let less cold air in. second half of this vid shows how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4x1vwQiXIU

Bathroom Extraction - Inline out of roof

Yes to both, just a bog standard paver. I've never seen it done with an in-line fan, but I'm curious to know if it can work :D

Bathroom Extraction - Inline out of roof

One technique that is used in 3d printing to reduce vibration is to place the printer on top of a slab which is lying on a piece of foam.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I replaced a fence panel which got obliterated by the storm earlier in the week. I've had a spare floating around, getting in the way for the past two years. I knew I didn't get rid of it for a reason, once again lazyness wins It's the wrong type (close board instead of overlap) and too...

Bathroom Extraction - Inline out of roof

I'd quite like to use rigid pipe for the run from the fan to the wall as it's approx 2m and I want the best airflow possible. Insulating it is a good idea, I can even tuck it between the loft insulation layers. It's the bit between the ceiling and the fan that i'm unsure about, I guess I would...

Bathroom Extraction - Inline out of roof

**thread hi-jack** I'm looking at fitting an inline fan in the loft space as well, although it will vent to the gable wall. In terms of the bit between the ceiling and the fan, is it best to use a short run of flex pipe or some angle connectors with rigid pipe?

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I agree, I take no issue with it really. Perhaps if it was a large volume of cuttings i'd like to discuss first just to minimise mess, but otherwise there are far bigger things to worry about.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

My neighbour, whose garden backs onto ours, chucks stuff over from our trees every so often. There's no way I want to engage with her and her yappy dogs though, so I'll just continue to ignore it :o

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Put a bit more insulation down under the boiler where the floor is a little lower. I put 100mm in originally but figured I could double that and still leave a healthy gap for ventilation. There's still more to be done in the loft...slowly getting there  I need to get a new extractor...

    Octopus Power Ups

Yeah all the washing and water will be done from the evening session and I can't run an electric heater unattended so I'll only be able to use the last 2 hours or so.

What "man jobs" have you done today?

Lifted a manhole on our property just to make sure the drains are working as they should. I've noticed some water around the drain but it must be from something else because there was no sign of porridge :D

What "man jobs" have you done today?

I bought some insulation last year and when I got it home I realised it was soaking wet. I managed to dry it in the garage, but it took several weeks (I should have just returned it) Anyway I finally got around to putting in place today.
