Yeah glad it's got a line under it now. Just had to throw some more money at it first lol.
Don't know what was up with the other cooler. Yeah it's smaller but should have performed better. Almost like the coldplate wasnt mating properly or pump not running properly
Will spend some time...
Well here's the latest
New case and cooler arrived today, so spent the evening transfering the gubbins from the old case to the new and getting it all built how I wanted it.
The outcome? A resounding success! It was late and I was tired so haven't messed with any bios settings, it's as it was...
I will have another go on these LL settings later
I suspect it's the cooler that's causing mine to play up. My voltages aren't even high really
What's considered a good SP figure btw? I can't say I know anything about it. It's just an Asus thing isn't it?
Yeah I know. It's an expensive 'problem' I have with things. I can't leave alone when things get under my skin. Computers and cars. I have done and do spend too much fixing not really real problems lol
And yes. It does seem this is the new direction of things
Well I threw more money at it and ordered a meshify 2 XL and liquid freezer 420.
If I can't get it to stop throttling with that I'm throwing it all away lol
Something ain't right currently as I struggle to not throttle with a fair size undervolt never mind trying to OC it. If your on a i9...
Yeah the BIOS was reset last night as it happens - best I get is the -.120 offset and then open the case front up to let air into the radiator easier (front mount) - that gives 95c max runs generally with 31k scores
I think its the cooler in all honesty - the results are too all over the place...
Yeah the cooler has the correct 1700 backplate and standoffs etc - plastic wasnt on - the cooler was used before on my 5900x
After faffing and faffing im leaning toward the cooler and case arent helping
Basically Im not convinced the pump/coldplate is mating properly or the pump runs...
Yeah I knew they were hot, but I have read people are able to do cine23 10 min runs and average between 85 and 95c - while mine will hit 100 almost right away and throttle. So something isnt right or people arent being honest about their results or what settings they are using
Its the speed of...
Yeah its an Asus board
I actually dropped the undervolt to -0.120 last night as I was getting intermittant crashing in a game that I suspected was possibly this, so dropped it a bit to see.
Im using adaptive negative offset
The SP score is 85 and undervolt protection is disabled
Thanks for the detailed write up!
I am using a -0.125 offset yes
All the power sockets on the board were already connected
When I tried LLC 4 and the IA/DC/AC settings it seemed to make the thermals worse for some reason, suspect vdroop not as high? I will have another play with this tomorrow...
I have set them to 253w and 300w
Also disabled multicore enhancement
currently able to pull cine23 run around 95c with a score of 30900
HWinfo showing a pull of around 210w during the run
Its truely crazy how hot how quick these things get
Hi folks
Recently upgraded my PC and got a 13700KF
Now I know these chips run hot, but how hot how quick is considered normal?
Mine hits 100c almost instantly in Cinebench23 at stock settings - this is using a Arctic liquid freezer ii 280
The only way I can get it to not hit 100c and...
Yeah will be a faulty CPU - mate had similar issues, not so much temp but constant crashing and BSOD when gaming
Sent his 5800X back and got another one and it works rock solid. Faulty 5000 chips in the wild.
Just to update on this - its a faulty CPU - he sent it back and replaced it with the warranty one and its working a treat - there are a number of cases like this now, 5000 series have some faulty chips out in the wild.
Sorry - should have also asked what RAM speeds you are using? He has 3600mhz which some posts are saying doesnt work right (dont believe this myself at all) and dropping it from using the DOCP setting to just run standard solves it - again this points to faulty IOC to me as the FSB will be...
With how many of these got sold across the world if these problems were across them all I would have expected it to be common knowledge rather than hot topics on forums and reddit - so you guys having no issues is good to know. What chipsets you using? X570 or B550?
I reckon its just some bad...
Hi
Just curious how many here with Ryzen 5000 CPU are getting frequent crashing?
I ask as a mate of mine just built a new PC using 5800X and is getting many crashes a day regardless of what he is doing. He seems to be getting a few of the documented problems from Reddit etc too like USB ports...
