Did I choose the worst tiler in the world? scratched tiles

Yup, and gently rub the scratches with it.

Personally I would try Barkeepers Friend on a small scratched area.

    Plumbing advice

Might be as simple as nipping up that brass compression nut a bit with an adjustable spanner. If it's the fill valve itself, then yes, quite straightforward. The copper pipe itself is most likely fine and can be reused.

    Are my driving instructions correct?

From my experience of my kids learning, and speaking to instructor, my impression is that safety is top priority in terms of teaching, and then basically getting them through the test at a standard where they are least likely to be a risk to themselves or others. Looking after the car itself...

What do I need to do to get my radiators working properly?

Assuming all your rads have lockshield valves, why not turn all rads off at the lockshield, making a note of how many turns are required to fully close the lockshield. Then open the problem radiator lockshield fully. If that makes it work, just open the lockshields on the other rads a tiny bit...

Splitting UFH from main boiler circuit.

It ought to be relatively straightforward depending on current location of components and current design. You may currently have a Y plan system with a 3 port motorised valve that sends hot water to the heating, hot water system or both. That would generally be changed into an S plan where you...

    Getting an early MOT

You can get an MOT up to a month early and still keep the full validity IE 13 months. If you do it earlier than this, then you'll get a fresh 12 month MOT starting from the date of test.

Vans cutting power after about 1.5 hours driving

Intermittent sensor fault of some sort would be my guess. Get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine or app.

Suffering from neighbors poorly installed chimney

If they aren't open to an amicable discussion about it, then I would look to report it to local building control. I don't think any sort of air purifier is going to do any good.

    MOT Fail Query

Your original MOT is still valid if the fault is not listed as dangerous as previously stated: https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test Just use common sense and don't rely on the handbrake to stop the car rolling away in the interim.

    Durgo/ Air Admittance Valve Help!

All FloPlast AAVs should be A1 rated: https://www.ribaproductselector.com/Docs/5/12945/external/COL912945.pdf Any purchased in the UK would be too I'd imagine. The one you linked should do the job, as long as your waste pipe is suitable for solvent weld, rather than polypropylene. Whether the...

Help me do some bangernomics! Updated with purchase!

eBay filter by nearest first. Set a max price and try searching 12 months MOT or 11 months MOT etc. That's what I do. I've had great success doing this by sticking to private sellers with excellent feedback.

Microbore - 12mm central heating piping

All comes down to how well the system has been looked after, and where the pipes are if there are blockages. I'd be looking for evidence of boiler servicing, and system maintenance. As stated if you are able to see the system working and all rads getting hot, then that at least confirms a flow...

    Underfloor heating (wet) retrofit

We had it put in our extension and left original part of house with rads. UFH is amazing, warm kitchen tiles are simply epic. If budget and logistics restrict then I would definitely just have it in the new part. I'd love to retrofit to the rest our our house one day though.

    Anyone live in a Bungalow?

Lived in one for about 8 years, family of 5. We have a light well, and big skylights in the kitchen/diner so it's really light everywhere. I really like not having the noise of people moving around upstairs. Also it's great in summer as the bedrooms stay nice and cool.

How to get good cheap breakdown cover?

In theory they arrange the recovery truck, you pay, then claim it back. In practice I've called them out 3 times, and not had to pay anything. I know people who have had to pay and reclaim though, and it's always been fine. They just use local recovery firms, much like the big companies do...

2008 Jetta - Service due in 14000 miles

Are you sure it doesn't say 1400 miles? That's more like the amount of warning my 03 Passat gives. Incidentally, that has always been serviced at long life intervals, has 175k miles on it, and still runs great.
