Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Treated myself for Christmas with a first dip into Porsche ownership. Have been looking at 986/987 Boxsters for the last month or so, finally pulled the trigger on this 987 via a local Porsche specialist. Picked it up just this morning, looking forward to getting to know it better and sunnier days.

    Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I’ve had an RS Twingo for almost two years now. Mine’s a 133 with Cup pack. I bought it as a cheap bit of fun. I had a Williams and 172 a decade or so back and was after something similar in feel. So picking up a much newer car from £2K upwards seemed a sound move. 172/182’s are quite old now...

    Bespoke simple CMS (Decentralised?)

I’d suggest looking at a modern headless cms, check out the following examples. https://www.storyblok.com/ https://strapi.io/ https://www.sanity.io/ https://prismic.io/ If you are getting in to the React world then it might be worth having a look at Gatsby too, which seems to be what all the...

    Painting Garage Floor

I used the Leyland floor paint as mentioned above and it’s been great. Two coats and it came out grand, Frigate Grey I recall.

SEAT Leon FR 1.4 DSG opinions

I’ve run one of these for a couple of years now, it’s a 66/2017 so pre-facelift but luckily still came with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I’ve had much quicker and sharper cars in the past but as an all round package for the family it’s been great. No issues with the DSG box so far but the...

    Hot Hatch Owners

Have been out of the hot hatch world for some years, the sensible life and family took over. But I've recently picked up a Renaultsport Twingo which is an absolute hoot. I had a thing for French hatchbacks in my earlier years – Clio Williams, 172, 106 Rallye, etc. The little Twingo reminds me...

    Mountain Biking

Noticed the Acid Eagle for £649 the other day, seems a fair amount of bike for the money. https://www.tweekscycles.com/uk/cube-acid-eagle-hardtail-mountain-bike-2019-2004265/

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

I had a quick scan of the terms but couldn’t see anything. I notice that the Eve via Next certainly includes the 100 day trial so don’t think it’s as clear cut as direct only.

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

From Very, I spotted it via HUKD as there’s a 20% code to get the full discount. Assume it still has the 100 day return ...

    Mattresses - I need knowledge

Had an eye on all these brands for a while, spotted an Eve in the sale (£650 down to £350 ish) so have ordered one to see how it goes.

    Hisense appliances

We purchased a Hisense American style fridge/freezer this time last year. It's been faultless so, although granted we're only 12 months in. It was a few hundred quid less than some of the others at the time as you mention.

Couple of days riding, Where to go?

    1) Peaks as above, plenty of riding for a few days. 2) Dyfi area of Wales. A day around Cli-machx and all it’s off-piste goodness. And a day at Nant y Arian maybe. Or Brechfa.

    Road Cycling

I'm looking at picking up a GPS computer unit, I currently use an Apple Watch to track activities but want something more bike specific. I like the idea of having stats easy to view on my bars and can't find a great way to navigate via the Apple Watch currently. It looks like a lot of people...

Just got home to find I’ve been successful in the Ride London ballet :) I’ve not applied previously and put my name down on a bit of a whim.

    Mountain Biking

I've done a DIY lower leg service on my Pike forks. I purchased the kit from TF Tuned, it was pretty straightforward to remove the lowers, inspect/replace the foam rings, fill back up with oil and bolt it all back together.

    Mountain Biking

I personally think it was one of the best Rampage's for a few years ... the gaps and lines are as crazy as they've ever been, it's just that people have moved the sport forward and are now pulling tricks on said lines! The scores are always subjective but the standard of riding was way higher...

    Mountain Biking

I did the MBR Cut Gate route earlier in the year - https://www.strava.com/activities/1019210511 It's a great ride but as mentioned the conditions may make it a bog this time of year. If you do favour then that loop Ladybower the opposite way to that mentioned, the MBR direction has you climbing...

    Mountain Biking

I did the “Hope Triple 8” a few months back which was a good ride. It takes in a few classic descents, you can tweak the start point to suit and it passes lots of options for a break/lunch. I tweaked the route slightly to take in another climb/descent up to Winstone Lee Tor, which then pops out...
