precisely, even with the Gene and Extreme, Asus uses no doublers on those boards but rather they split one signal PWM signal into 2 powerstages (IR3555M), hence with the Gene and Extreme it is "5+2" vrm desgin. The powerstages used on those board have their own driver hence by passing a doubler...
To be fair, 4 dimm boards seem to be much worse on dealing with 3600+ ddr4. For 2 dimm boards like the b450i from asus/msi I have seen them doing 3600-3800 stable, not only on Samsung B-die but also on Hynix C-die (stock 3200-3600mhz) and Micron 3rd gen die (stock 2400Mhz)
the ITX has better vrm than the Mortal both in term on efficiency and max power output. Both should do fine for a stock 2700x or PBOed. Other features, I don't know.
