I7-8086k CPU temp spikes hitting 100°C!

Thanks for the responses guys. The chip is still under warranty so I'm going to call OCUK tomorrow. I wasn't expecting the liquid metal to fail on me if I'm honest, especially only having the chip 8 months.

I7-8086k CPU temp spikes hitting 100°C!

So to start off my chip was ordered from OCUK and has been professionally delidded and pre-binned. This was last summer. Usually my temps at idle would be around 30-35°C, playing games would sit around 65-75°C. But last week, I noticed a couple of the cores spiking all the way to 100°C. This...

    New I7-8700K build advice

I'll admit it, I didn't read the rules ;) but I have posted on these forums before, was about a year ago. Should still have double checked I suppose. I do agree though, it makes sense now that I think of it. I don't think I have the confidence of delidding such an expensive CPU :p I already...

    Screen Tearing Issue

Hey folks, Need to borrow some of your wisdom here. This all started just the other day and I've spent since then trying to work out what's wrong. To start off, I'm using a GTX 970 @ 1530MHz and a BenQ XL2411 144Hz monitor. Now ever since I upgraded to 144Hz I've never had screen tearing...

    New PC build advice! £2000+

Interesting, this was my worry. That dropping to a 100Hz monitor would feel very different. I can see the difference clearly between 60Hz and 144Hz as I have both monitors, but I've never experienced a 100Hz monitor. But if you're saying threre's no real obvious difference between 100 and 144...

    New PC build advice! £2000+

Right now, I'm using the BenQ XL2411 144Hz monitor. After playing games on this I don't think I can go back to anyting under 144Hz. So ideally, I'd like to get an ultrawide 1440p 144Hz monitor with <4ms response time. Which I don't think exists? Or I haven't been able to find one yet :/

    New PC build advice! £2000+

Thanks for the response guys. So just to clarify what you're saying about the memory, its better to have, say 2 sticks totalling 32Gb than it is to have 4 sticks totalling 16Gb? Is it the amount of sticks that is stressful for the cpu? or the amount of ram? And I haven't heard of the coffeelake...

    New PC build advice! £2000+

Hello, I'm new to the forums here :) but this will be my 2nd gaming PC. I built my 1st one back in 2013 and spent around £1000, so kinda looking to upgrade now. Been spending the last few weeks researching, on what the best cpu's are, and what ram is the best etc. So here's a list I've...
