Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

My company do a similar thing, they put it in a target retirement dated fund, which you cannot view performance before you invested into it - which I've been in for 3 years, its done "ok" gaining 5.5% each of those 3 years but I took half of it and moved it into a US Equity fund which has been...

Pension fund performance - do you monitor yours, how is it doing, do you actively change it?

I find Aviva's calculator pretty decent, as it shows annuity, drawdown and if you took the whole pot at maturity in a simple interface: https://www.direct.aviva.co.uk/myfuture/RetirementPlanner/AboutYou#assumptions

    Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

I would, they are heading (fingers crossed) to investment grade and potentially a dividend in 2025, as a long hold until 2027 I do believe £30k would see growth, the percentage of return on that growth probably wouldn't be as great as it has been from the COVID drop until now but it will still...

    Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

I put £30k in at an average of 0.98 - even got some more from the rights issue at 34p or something back a few years ago, haven't touched it since...its now enough to pay my mortgage off...was very much a gamble and I wanted to sell it a few times but let it ride, £3.50 is my target.

Where to go for a few days away with my teenage son?

What about a trip to a snowdome for a beginner lesson, snowboarding is popular at that age. the one in Yorkshire isn't that far from Dalby Forest so could tie in with GoApe and/or Mountain biking and a little further afield from there you could also hit up Tees Barrage for kayaking (if he...

When are you going fully electric?

probably because it weights the same as a house but even then, some XL van tyres would surely be fine in the right size!

When are you going fully electric?

Well, that was the follow up I was looking for! I heard the issues with the 2.2 update but most were "the mirrors fold down when reversing and not returning" not "it stopped working" ! bit of a worry that for a £50k car! I'm hoping that by the time I actually get it delivered further updates...

When are you going fully electric?

Just put an order in for a Polestar 2, was excited until the delivery date of Jan 2023! Also, when getting a quote for the house charger, need up rated MNO fuse (60amp currently!) and my fusebox needs upgrading as its full so whacking on a few more £££ to the bill. Replacing a 2010 Alfa Mito...

    VW Transporter

I have one, a 2014 t5.1 Kombi LWB T32 for £13k with 92k miles, the previous owner stacked that milage in 3 years and it was serviced and maintained well, bought from main dealer and they did 1.4k worth of service items and timing belt (and wheel bearings etc) before I bought it. I bought it 5...

Do you save money every month?

Can claim reduced on benefits, I had someone I know on benefits recently complaining that the council tax had increased. They pay £20, it had increased from £18. Government also gave them the £150 rebate this month, that should last them a few years of council tax!

Do you save money every month?

Exactly my point, the argument that investing the money you would have paid in a mortgage while renting is so out of touch with reality. Paying double the mortgage cost on rent while investing what would have been the cost of the mortgage in a fund is just not realistic when you can pay a...

Do you save money every month?

In my 50s 60s and into retirement, I would much prefer to not have to continue paying rent and have an asset to pass to my children or family.

Do you save money every month?

See my previous post on what I am saving now, this wasn't always the case and I was very much in a similar position to you, I made some terrible mistakes with partner choice and having kids at 17 (!) spent my entire 20s and early 30s building a debt mountain and raising kids, kids now left home...

Do you save money every month?

I have a very modest 3 bed home which only costs £400 a month mortgage, 3 years left on that with the house worth around £200k, my partner lives with me and pays towards bills at £300 a month so our bills and expenses are low, no other debts and 10 year old car. I save around £2k a month into a...

    Weird Things Your Neighbours Do

Are you my neighbour? perhaps they have busy lives, not always home when its been raining so leave it and rewash it a few days later, better things in life, like paying the bills.

What are some of the most unique eye catching things you have seen in a house viewing?

I used to rent out my annex (vaguely connected to the house) on airBNB and one of the neighbours reported me to the council for it, they came out and assessed and due to it not having a kitchen, they couldn't do anything as it was just classed as a separate room to the house, it has a shower...

    Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

I just can't hit a good share at the minute, just keeps falling. Biggest loss at the moment is 17,000 shares in RR at 18% loss, excluding company shares which is another 7k which are down 25% but I didn't pay for those...! Barclays another 10% down, across my portfolio nothing is blue...

My Wife and I (Our Story)

Firstly, very sad story and situation, hopefully the care improves and situation gets better for your partner and your family. I was reading your story thinking my partner who is a nurse wouldn't have gone home until your partner had those drugs, I know for a fact a consultant would have been...

Are you looking further afield when job hunting now?

I have a friend that just sold up in the city where her employers office and her partners employer is based and moved to the coast of North Wales in a lovely cottage, this is from the midlands. I think this is great at the moment with working from home, casual walks on the beach etc but once...

    furlough and pay cut

Very similar sounding to Beerbaron, IA Leadership role, I was/currently am a jack of all trades "head of IT" previously but vast experience in IA/Security inside and outside of my paid employment so a logical move, will continue to be a leadership role with governance and policy consultancy etc.
