    ASUS workstation/WS motherboard warranty

Has anyone RMA'ed an ASUS workstation/WS motherboard directly recently? How was your experience? I am looking to pick up a X299 WS board for the PCIe lanes and cheap LGA2066 i9 CPU.

    Nvme heatsink necessary?

You probably don't need to worry about putting a heatsink on, but it can be beneficial. The now ancient Toshiba XG3 (outlived their NAND division) will overheat depending on what firmware you put on it. When I had a performance oriented FW on it from a Dell precision laptop (that has a heatsink...

Any news on 3090FE active backplates?

If you still haven't purchased an active backplate from EKWB because of their prices, have a look at Bykski's. They sell full plexi RGB blocks with an active backplate starting from £135 inc delivery.

Waterblock for the 3090fe - what do you have on yours?

Bykski, because £100 for a 3090 nickel plated copper waterblock includes a backplate and postage. Prices is pretty much the same for plexi with or without RGB or acetal, unlike other brands. I would add that if you do buy Bykski, you should make sure every screw is torqued down correctly. Edit...

AIO fan mounting and air flow direction

Pushing through the radiator will always give slightly better performance, at the cost of being more difficult to clean without taking the fans off. AIO radiators are usually too thin to take advantage of push+pull configuration, UNLESS you want to have the fan RPM to be very low (usually...

GPU Block white discolouration and damage?

You can use chrome polish (or other non-abrasive metal polish) if the slight blemish troubles you, the plating itself doesn't look compromised, i.e. can't see bare-metal or surface unevenness.

    SFX PSU Help

A 600W unit will work fine even after accounting for aging a few years down the line, but most SFX PSUs start getting noisy when going over 70% rate loading. This may or may not affect you depending on the rest of your system components. You can read about a particular model's noise-to-load in...

    i7-7980XE RAM overclocking voltages

I have a few questions in regarding to overclocking my RAM (octo 8GB 3000C14-14-14-34-1T) B-die, not stable with XMP only) to 3400C16-17-17-34-1T (I know I should be able to lower the timings, but time&effort vs payoff isn't enough for me currently): I am running VCCIO@1v (manual), [email protected]...

    EVGA GQ series PSU pinout

Which RTX 3080 cards use the reference PCB

It becomes an issue when you are water cooling (like the OP intends to), and tries to OC the core and memory (almost no card has a factory OC on memory) at the same time.

Which RTX 3080 cards use the reference PCB

I only know of Gainward, some Galax, some Palit, and PNY using reference PCB for the RTX 3080, and all of their power limit (PL) is disappointing. I wish Gigabyte would release a ref PCB with a very high PL (up to 366W) again like the 2080 Ti Gaming.

Super Flower modular PSU DC socket

Proprietary connector seems unlikely due to the cost of underwriting a new electrical connection design (you will need cert one per country/region) for insurance purpose would scupper that idea. Also, you can buy the male (plug) end for a quid or two a pop from China, but I can't find the female...

    Watercooling fluid

It's fine, water self-ionises anyway, also (and more relevant), the amount of metal (taken from the loop) is tiny (mg range).

    Watercooling fluid

Distilled/deionised water is the best for cooling performance. I have a silver kill coil in mine, and flushes my loop twice a year (I clean the kill coil while I am at it). Pre-mixed = straight in the loop. Concentrate = mix with water !Always RTFM! Define 'tend to'? Is it 50% of the products...

Super Flower modular PSU DC socket

I need to find 7 of these sockets (not the plug/DC cable side connector): Anyone know where to find them, or even better, the name of the connector?

Get rid of fan shrouds and go push pull?

Have a look at Noctua NF-A12x15 (chromax if you want all black), they should resolve your clearance issue. They have the same CFM as NF-F12 (used to be one of the go to 120mm radiator fan after the GT was EoLed, and before NF-A12x15 came along), but lower static pressure (should suffice for a...

    AIO orientation question

If it's an AIO, yes. Just shake the radiator, it's pretty obvious if there's gas inside, even a brand new unit will have some gas inside. The older the AIO, and the higher the fluid temperature is (linked to heat load vs radiator size), the quicker it will permeate through the tubing. E.g. a...

Advice Wanted : Full Contact All I one Trx40 cooler

Have a look at the be quiet! silentloop range (Alphacool OEM), its coldplate is big enough to cover most of the Threadripper/Epyc IHS, but I don't think the microfins inside covers all the outer chiplets for the Threadripper 3k CPUs: You might want to look for something like a EKWB phoenix...

    AIO orientation question

The primary purpose of trapping the air at the closed end of the radiator is to prevent the air from getting to the pump/block of an AIO. Fluid permeation will still take place through the hoses, and only the hoses, not through any other parts of the cooler. The reason you do not want the the...

    DCC Pump PWM

You can do it, just make sure you know the specification of the motherboard header, you will want a 2A or above fan header. You can also use your existing PCB with voltage control if you use a 3pin fan header. I suggest you use 22 or lower AWG wires for this purpose.
