I hope the founders edition cooler will actually do the job this time. The mechanical theory is there and i'd like to think NVIDIA can afford to hire decent thermal engineers, you would hope the £650 to £799 delta between cards is more markup than cooler design.

To be fair, at stock frequency the 9900k does seem to able to do quite low voltage like 1.2ish. To get the 5ghz all-cores which is what everyone wants, they seem to need 1.25-1.3 which is when they start getting toasty.

I’m using a H150i and it barely cools the 9900k at 5.1ghz (85-90 degrees under full synthetic load). At stock your h80 might do it in gaming load.

How are you guys overclocking you 9900k's? I've assembled my bundle outside of a case to test and I think I've got a decent sample which does 5.1 all core @1.32v. (Seems to be a good tray batch you got @Gibbo ) It will also do 4 cores 5.3 at the same volts. With these higher core count chips...

What case are you using? AIO’s still need good airflow through the radiator, surface area wise they’re not that much greater than a big air cooler and certainly not big enough to passively cool a hot CPU. If your case is sealed at the top (or one with those small slots on the side) the hot air...

Thanks for the input. Yeah an AIO was chosen for a reason other than temperature/price ratio, aesthetics and form factor were the main points. The NHD-15 won't fit in the case (ironic for an "air" case right?) and anything less won't cut it based off what everyone is saying with their temps...

The spec sheet alone should have told everyone it wasn't worth it. If they had released 2080 at the same price as 1080ti then there would be no discussion at all, but for all intents and purposes with the games available today and in the near future .... it's overpriced.

Nice one, I made the jump from a 680 to 1080ti too. You know the 680 was starting to show it’s age when you don’t have enough VRAM to even play modern games at full screen size. That aside, the 680 has genuinely been a 5 year card.
