    Making good

Thanks, all. It seems my expectation was in line with the majority here. As soon as we asked for them to be patched up we got a short email stating "I hope you're not delaying payment as the job has been completed", we had said nothing about payment at this point and only had the invoice 2...

    Making good

Having had some building work done, for which the quote included 'making good', what level of finish is expected? I had assumed it would be ready for decorating, but there are some chunks of plaster missing which the builder suggests is the decorator's job to fix. Is this normal...

    C Question

Your return buf; like is causing the warning about returning a local variable, when it drops out of scope it's gone, the first warning is because your return type is a char, but return buf is actually returning a char*. You could pass a char* as a second argument to get_path and initialize it...

    wiring help

Do you have access to both ends of the cable in question? If so most cheap multimeters will allow you to measure resistance, if it's very low then there are no breaks, if it's very high chances are there are 1 or more. For your other question, I believe you're looking for an RCA jack and...

    electrical question

If anything, I'd expect the DC into AC to be more likely to work, as DC through a rectifier is still DC. AC into a DC device won't kill any diodes, but could end up being half wave rectified, I doubt the device would function though.

    electrical question

Is there a symbol with a flat line and a dashed line above it on the power supply anywhere? What does it say on the back actually, or post a photo

    electrical question

There will usually be a symbol with a couple of concentric circles, with lines coming from them to show if the which of the outside edge or inside edge of the connector is positive and which is negative, you need to make sure this is the same as the power connector on your radio kit. If it is...

    Liskeard/Cornwall Trip

I see or hear a helicopter most days in or around Falmouth, just a bit of trivia. As for day trips from Liskeard, you're not too far from Fowey or Padstow, both are pretty nice places to visit.

As far as I know Bunters is still open, but is up for sale along with L2 and The Corn Exchange in Camborne. Not the end of the world really, though Bunters is good for watching the rugby.

    java speed

Depends on why it's going slow. If it's something like the JVM is spending a lot of time doing garbage collection due to you running close to your max heap size most of the time (defaults to 85 meg) then you can use the -Xmx command at run time to allocate more. You can also change which...
