The soundstage is always something I worry about when almost pulling the trigger on the 6xx. People online say they're very narrow and best for music and not gaming.
I feel as though for my use case the 712 would be the "safer" choice, I just wish I could try the 650/6xx as if I found them fine...
Hmm. Isn't that the trade off in general when in comes to narrow Vs wide soundstage? You either have great imaging on a narrow soundstage or good/average imaging on a wide soundstage with the advantage of knowing how far footsteps are away from you.
How "average" would you say imaging is on...
Thanks for going into such detail.
I've read a lot about amps in the past few days and the general consensus is that gamer audio products (g6) are worse than audio products in the same price bracket (k5 pro). They also explain that although gamer products like the g6 will get higher end...
Have you been able to try the k712?
How is the k712 compared to the 990 in "fun" and competitive? I've heard the k712 adds a but more bass compared to the other akgs but is it still bass light?
I've also read that the k712 has accurate imaging but central imaging is a bit blurry.
The 990s...
The x2s are "fun" that's it. They're awful for competitive. Sometimes footsteps seem close but they're actually far away and vice versa. It does left and right imaging but everything else you have to critically listen to know where footsteps are coming from. If you dig deeper as I have there's...
Importing from US rain forest + buying a UK plug
I'm considering k712 or the 990 at the moment mostly leaning k712 due to the apparent dt 990 spike in the highs
I'm buying the k712 on black Friday and Id like an amp dac combo.
The creative g6 is £70 (B stock)
Fiio k5 pro will be around £130-140
In games like csgo/call of duty do you want vss turned off so you can hear footsteps better?
Is vss a gimmick? Does it really give a more immersive...
Thanks I'm going to order them and see how I like em.
Yeah I saw x3s are coming out early next year but they'll probably cost £300+.
If I like the x2hrs and want to upgrade to x3s at a later date when they go on sale, at £109 I probably won't lose much money.
thanks for the help guys

@EsaT
Yeah, my man cave is quiet.
Was just reading about the 990s and they come across as the most polarising headphones lol. "Beyer spike" came up a lot.
I might just buy the x2hrs as £109 seems like a good price (would you agree?), as they don't require an amp and go from there.
I don't...
@EsaT
Thanks for the information.
between the x2hr and 990s which would you consider the more "fun" of the two?
if I want the best of both worlds of fun and competitive would this be a good setup?
Soundblaster X3 for surround
X2hr for fun and music
Ad700x/shp 9500/shp9600 for sound whoring...
