    Self-build - BSODs like clockwork

Rinbow 6 Siege is about as old as your GPU, maybe an issue with new demands from games

New build, terrible performance and benchmarks

Just out of interest, and I know it's not considered accurate, run the passmark test https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ It might show a bottleneck

Is this a good enough gaming pc to run Runescape

Many ways to get enough bang for buck here. The second hand market being a charm if you know what to look for. As I have shown it is possiblt to make an upgradable (is that a word?) system with a 3200g as a base APU. I'd rather buy a cpu and gpu separate for the same money second hand! it would...

Is this a good enough gaming pc to run Runescape

I think the message there is, Vega 8 isn't good enough apparently, so buy Vega 3! it's even worse:confused:

Is this a good enough gaming pc to run Runescape

If I had around £300 I'd be looking at building something like this: CiT Flash, glass window (CITFLASH) MSI B450M-A Pro Max AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, 4x 3.50GHz Patriot Viper 4 elite grey DIMM kit 8GB, DDR4-2666, CL16-17-17-36 Corsair CX Series modular CX450M 450W ATX 2.4 Western Digital WD Blue 3D...

    What has happened to pricing?

RAM has always been like a stock market commodity, you need to pick your buying times well and use price guides that graph how things are moving.

    New Self Build

I agree with a lot of what's been said, but bang for buck the 3600 is a better deal than the 3700x, and the very underestimated B450 Mortar MAX, instead of the Gaming or Tomahawk is a good option. All depends on what you want to do with it?

Computer won't turn on at all after a restart (no fans, nothing)

I know it sounds basic and silly, but is everything removed that could be construed as a boot device? Is there a USB or a disk in a drive? they can chuck some serious spanners when on a forced restart. Sounds mechanical to me, but it's always best to eliminate all other options (Occam's Razor...

    Dell Optiplex 790 - Reuse..

Armageus is correct, "or junk the lot, as although the motherboard and PSU look to be standard sizes, I'm not sure that they actually are" I did a recent build for a nephew using an Optiplex mid tower, and unless you want to start chopping cables, warming up the soldering iron and studying...

    Is this build any good?

Depends on what's in them! some items are considered unique in some way and are still actively sought by purists and tech heads looking for certain kicks from a build (My old chip and board are selling for more than I paid for them 5 years ago!!). Generally I like to keep 2 machines running and...

Microsoft Rep trying to sell anti-hacker !! (bit of a con?)

If it's your own build, I'd be surprised if it has a non-deletable "recovery" partition? such things are normally for proprietary builds! Unless you made it yourself, I'd be very suspicious. On another note, you can always just type a phone number into Google and see what it comes up with! there...

RAM speed on B450 Mortar Max

Sweet! I always knew I spent too much time trawling through those lists! at the end of the day they're only reporting on RAM they've tested! doesn't mean it's no good if it's not on the list, just means it's not on the list.

    1660 ti or 5600 XT

You're all right on many counts, but the 2700XT is 225w (No good for me) and I can buy the Saph pulse brand new for £277 delivered.

    PC shutting down. Please help

I Used to run (Still have) an FX 9590 (Toasty!) 50 DegC for a 6300 at idle seem very high! Out of interest, how many times has the thermal paste been cleaned and replaced? after 6 years of use on an FX chip I'd imagine it was non existent! or at best a very thin burnt omelette. The issues you...

    Upgrade my pc or no?

By the way a GTX 980 ti (Always wanted one) is still a brute, but for how long is the question.

    Upgrade my pc or no?

I rebuild every 5 years or so as a standard. The tech moves on so fast it's pointless to chase the top end, but building a "Bang for buck" system every 5 years seems about right. Your not really chasing anything other than the software developers who are predetermined to write for future...

Aorus Master z390 red cpu light, will not post

So I hope you have this option, if you don't PM me and I'll send you one. The more complicated boards become, the less they are easy to diagnose! I have a previous board which always gave me a code "Reserved for future issues" If you have one? plug in a little speaker/beeper thing! you know what...

RAM speed on B450 Mortar Max

According to the latest info from MSI That RAM isn't on the supported list https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-MORTAR-MAX#support-mem-14 Not sure how important that is.

Nvme or just regular m.2 ???

If you're going to use the M.2 put an NVME in it, otherwise it's not really any faster than normal SATA. If you's going for a SATA SSD don't waste the X16 slot.
